gangsu
I don't want to get anybody into trouble here. ok, the whole idea is not to find songs that actually work, but just randomly give it a shot. I was curious to read in another thread how some of you can read a book while playing. that's interesting. I can carry on a conversation while playing, but I can't read. I can't watch tv and knit either. Anyway, it does require a certain silliness. Good job TB! "........! Try to make It..REAL! compared to what? ! ! ! Anyway, I am posting on this thread (branch, whatever) while listening to demos of the roland SRVJ80 expansion boards from the lilchips site, so i guess you could say I am a multitasking fool!! EscapeRocks
I can carry on a conversation while playing, but I can't read. I can't watch tv and knit either.I used to as a kid, and I still do watch tv when practicing/playing the piano. I don't know how I started doing it, I just did. I often watch baseball or football, and sometimes a movie. I have found that this helps me pay attention to the waitresses at the nightclubs we gig at, without losing my plac ein the the song Seriously though, I just tried the play one sing another...not really easy..but I did manage to hammer out "Ask The Lonely" while singing "Lights." cheers, David David Gig Rig:Roland Fantom 08 | Roland Jupiter

Chris Link
Not exactly on topic, but you can interchange the words and melodies to "Amazing Grace" and the theme from "Gilligan's Island". Botch.
At the office I often find myself writing down a number while spelling my name to someone on the phone at the same time, does that count? Thanks to another thread posted somewhere else, I now sing "Sweet Home Alabama" while playing the main riff from "Back in Black" But this is the part of your challenge that has me stumped: Originally posted by gangsu: No music is allowed. gangsu
hey Botch, we meet again How about playing Money while singing just about anything else. Dare you! Well, I assume it's easier to play without thinking if you've got notes in front of you. If you're forced to actually find both tunes between your ears, and produce them with all those different body parts..ahh, you know what I mean? This is not an exercise for the theorist. "........! marino
Originally posted by gangsu: Who out there can sing one piece, while playing another? No music is allowed. Any style. I had never thought of that, so i tried. I found that I could easily play Bach's Prelude in Cm from WTC II, while singing an Italian pop song. Of course, I've choosed a song which is in a minor key too, to make it easier... but after a while, the Prelude went to Eb, while the song modulated to C major. UGLY! (Well, you could say "Ivesian"... ) I have never been able to hold a conversation while playing, unless I'm doing some simple comping - and even then, I would be worried to lose the time. A related subject: When studying in the conservatory, I tried all the time to go there to practice on their beautiful Steinways. More than once, I ended up in a room with two grand pianos, with another pianist practicing at the same time. It was quite maddening after a few hours, believe me.
