gangsu
By the way, anybody know what happened to Dave Horne? It's really all his fault that I figured I had to get to know this guy. daBowsa
I think "The Champ" is the tune he's most known for. I always liked his rendition of "Its Only A Paper Moon" for some reason. If I'm not mistaken, he was the first person to use an organ in a jazz setting - for sure, he was the first to form an "Organ Trio." If he's not impressing you, just remember there's no bass player. DaveMcM
I grew up on Jimmy Smith. In fact the first tune I ever played on organ was The Cat. I learned it for my mother and father who love jazz organ. That was many moons ago. Dave Wm. David McMahan I Play, Therefore I Am

I have since downloaded Watermelon Man. I like it a lot better than Satin Doll. The Jimmy organs are pretty good, Dave. Close your eyes, and you can't tell us apart. "........! jkrobin
My top Jimmy recommendations: 1) Trouble in Mind 2) St. James Infirmary Make sure you listen to the songs all the way through, as he usually takes about a minutes to get to the really smokin' parts. Suppport Guy
I saw Jimmy with Joey D sunday night. He is now 79 years old. It takes him a while to get to the stage (he walks slowly) but when he sits down at the mighty Hammond he plays with the energy and inventiveness that makes him the master that he is. It was a great and memorable set both for the music and the respect he is shown from everyone there.
