LGK_Dude
Which 61-key MIDI controller offers the best bang for the buck? I need a cheep ($200-$300) MIDI keyboard controller to be used in conjunction with a Logic EXS24 sample based setup. Some keyboards that have thus far caught my eye (though have not played yet) are the M-audio Radium & MK461C Evolution, as well as the Edirol PCR series. Any user feedback? I would like the controller to be either USB powered and/or battery powered, as I will be using it in conjunction with a laptop. Thus portability is also somewhat of an issue, though I need the 61-key model to allow for patch triggering of my samples. Thanks in advance for any and all help. It is much appreciated. Milos
I plan to buy EDIROL PCr 80.It has the greatest program capabilities and the best keyboard action(its Roland after all). You cant program radium at all-and the mk461c is great for programing but the keyboard action is spongy. Edirol pcr is maybe the most expensive (300 $) but its quality Roland and I didnt see someone complains about it.You got some reviews of the pcr smaller brothers @ www.zzounds.com www.harmony-central.com Look for the reviews and you will see that this is the best choice. They are very helpful. Are there anymore sites with user reviews? Also, is anyone using or seen reviews on the Novation ReMote 61? It looks very cool, esp the Programmable X/Y touchpad! A little pricey, but might be worth looking into, though I wonder if its more expensive because of the internal midi interface. As I already have a functioning MIDI interface in my system, is there any benefits of having two?
Milos
The novation remote 61 is not released yet.His smaller brother the remote 25 had a great success, and its the same thing but only in 25 key model. And the price of the remote 61 will be 600 dollars. But for 450 go fot the keystation pro 88.It has some problems on it-but at my opinion not anyone have this problems and they are just minor problems(look the keystation pro 88 topic on forum). As soon this problems gone Im buying this keyboard but until then the pcr 80 is my choice. You got the great review of novation remote 25(the remote 61 is the same thing but with 61 keys) @ www.soundonsound.com You asked about does the integrated usb midi interface reflects the high price of product-its ver, very cheap components and all modern us keyboards have this-radium,mk series, pcr series, keystation series ,novation .It became standard thing to have usb midi interface on keyboard. The only problem that exist with usb midi interface is the latency problem on keystation pro
