Tedster Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 I'm sure it's happened to everyone here. What I want to know is how you resolve it... Listening to the radio. Catch a part of an awesome tune. After the tune, you hear that it's by some band called "KXYZ, THE BIG SOUND IN YOUR TOWN WITH MORE WEEKEND MUSIC!!!!!!" The radio station refuses to answer their phone. Chances are they won't play it again (especially if it's a good song). So, you've got this song (or songs) bugging you. Some you may have heard aeons ago, and still don't know who they're by. How do YOU resolve it? Go around humming the song for everyone you know? Chances are they don't know either... "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Botch. Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 If it was a song I simply had to have, back in the old days I'd sit thru MTV's Top 20 countdown, but they don't have one anymore, do they. I loved Seal's "Crazy", but it took me months to find out who it was, finally saw him on some awards show. You'd think with Clear Channel programming everything, there'd be a website where you could look up what they played at any particular time, that would be one small advantage to Clear Channel. KHAN Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Please refrain from any future references to Clear Channel in the future. Just it's very mention sends me into a murderous rage. ;) Ted. If you can remember a fragment of the lyrics, you could try searching it in google. Might be worth a try. So Many Drummers. So Little Time...

Hippie Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Ted, if the station you heard the song on is one of the well-funded, 'conglamorate stations', there is often an accompaning website that has playlists, show notes, or sometimes an archive of previous shows that allow you to hear them again. Matt In two days, it won't matter.
george costanza Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 As often as not there's no one there to answer the phones---you're listening to a satellite broadcast that's also being played in 50 other "markets" (& you thought you lived in a "city" ).
Tedster Posted December 20, 2002 Author Posted December 20, 2002 Yeah, I know... "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"

Erlic Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 I've been fortunate to be able to call the station and get decent result, but not always. And if that doesn't work I try to do a search for the station, or simply put some of the words in a "google" search with some results. Usually a lot of my friends, who can hear lyrics better than I, can usually respond. My brother always manages to find out the answer. I asked him how, and he simply smiled. OK, so he's a drummer, and so how does he know all these tunes? Hell if I know. At least I get my answers, and that's all that matters. _____________ Erlic

[/b][/quote]Although I don't use it,I just got through reading and intersting review of a new portable MP3 player called Neuros that comes with an FM transmitter. It say that if you listening to the radio and can't identify the song, the player can record a brief sample, and then upload it(Via your PC)to their(Neuros)servers,it is then parsed into a database containing over 3000,000 songs(which is growing and being updated everyday),and then returns you with a match(supposedly).
