Jazz+
How does Jimmy Smith set the drawbars, percussion, chorus, etc. for the sound he uses to walk bass with his left hand? I know the right hand settings from Dasher's site http://www.thesoundsmith.com/private/hammond3.htm Harry was the Technical Editor of Mark Levine's "The Jazz Theory Book" and helped develop "The Jazz Piano Book." Jazz+
OK, I found this http://www.thesoundsmith.com/private/hammond4.htm But what about the "Percussion, Soft, Short, Third Harmonic. V/C" settings for left hand bass? "The Bass Line Virtually all jazz organists play the bass line with their left hand on the lower keyboard. The registration is 80 8000 000, with the second drawbar sometimes pulled from 1 to 4, for added growl. (Gospel players play bass on the upper manual, go figure...) The pedals are played (on medium to up-tempo tunes) as percussive accent, either on the note being played with the left hand (moving line) or on one pedal matching the key of the music. This is very stacatto, so the net effect is not that of a note from the bass pedal, but rather a chopping, punchy sound which adds grit to the line played on the left hand. Ballads are different, and the pedals may come into play as actual notes." Harry was the Technical Editor of Mark Levine's "The Jazz Theory Book" and helped develop "The Jazz Piano Book." Jazz+
But what about the "Percussion, Soft, Short, Third Harmonic. V/C" settings for left hand bass? Are they of consideration, or are they the same as for the right hand register? Harry was the Technical Editor of Mark Levine's "The Jazz Theory Book" and helped develop "The Jazz Piano Book." JimmieWannaB
I haven't read it yet, but this month's Keyboard has an article on B3 bass lines. You might want to check it out.

As far as lower bass goes most younger cats like Joey D and Tony Monaco use 848000000. Asked him right after a set.
