Duhduh Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Please... From reading your posts you seem to be a pretty intelligent individual with a real contribution. Please use punctuation. Your posts are so hard to read without. I simply do not have enough time to follow you around and add punctuation to your posts! :D "Meat is the only thing you need beside beer! Big hunks of meat and BEER!!...Lots of freakin' BEER." "Hey, I'm not Jesus Christ, I can't turn water into wine. The best I can do is turn beer into urine." Jeebus Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 The Jeebus agrees. I got about halfway through that last post before I gave up on it, because it was just so difficult to read. I saw some clear thoughts, the problem is the lack of separation between such thoughts. What kind of work do you do, T. Ehl? If it involves writing, your coworkers must hate you. :D -------------------- Your Friendly Neighborhood Jeebus
KHAN Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 i go back and forth on the subject on one hand t ehl has the right to communicate any way he sees fit on the other hand it could be considered bad nettiquette to post on a board and not follow the common usage of the english language i don't want to cause a fuss here but it does tend to get monotonous to go word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after word after without any punctuation at all but in the end it is your choice to communicate your ideas any way you see fit and and my choice to skip over your responses because they are so hard to read So Many Drummers. So Little Time...
PBBPaul Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 What they said. Please puncuate. This issue was brought up in another thread as well. T. Ehl offered the following explanation: it is camoflage besides what is placed on the internet qualifies as english only in the sense that something like the strokes counts as music so really it just means i am too hip for the room you do not need punctuation punctuation is for lamers this is the future do you not see it is only a matter of time before everyone writes like this notice that already people are not bothering with caps and run on sentences are the norm and since when has people used compound sentences here anyhow and just like exposing yourself as being knowledgable by knowing how to play an instrument using punctuation will be very uncool i am just being alternatively progressive that is all Our new and improved website Today's sample tune: Lonesome One
Duhduh Posted December 18, 2002 Author Posted December 18, 2002 Khan is right. But it is also T. Ehl's choice to heed or ignore my suggestion. After all, it was only a friendly suggestion. "Meat is the only thing you need beside beer! Big hunks of meat and BEER!!...Lots of freakin' BEER." "Hey, I'm not Jesus Christ, I can't turn water into wine. Jeebus Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 I (tried to) read one of T. Ehl's posts a few days ago on the digital recording forum. He defended his lack of punctuation as his small part in the remedy of the current energy crisis. He believes that by not using punctuation he is saving electrons. ----------------- Your Friendly Neighborhood Jeebus
Rim Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 I was about to PM T. Ehl about this myself. Yes, it is T. Ehl's choice on how he/she wants to communicate but I agree with those of you who find it hard to read. It's so hard that I end up not reading T. Ehl's post. T. Ehl, it's your choice of whether it's worth being hip even if it results in not being read all the time by some folks. aka riffing Double Post music: Strip Down http://rimspeed.com http://loadedtheband.com
Duhduh Posted December 18, 2002 Author Posted December 18, 2002 That's my point! I made the effort to point it out because I think what he is posting is worth reading. But without puncuation, no one is gonna read it! "Meat is the only thing you need beside beer! Big hunks of meat and BEER!!...Lots of freakin' BEER." "Hey, I'm not Jesus Christ, I can't turn water into wine. The best I can do is turn beer into urine." Skip_dup1 Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 I am totally the opposite-I`ll go back and edit myself if I catch an error. I hope this isn`t another typical anti-intellectual `the dumber I look, the cooler I am` thing.
Chris Johnson Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Who remembers a certain liner notes that ended: "and to the publishers of rock dreams who gave a certain visual content to a visceral disbelief that it's really true about the why beat about the bush let's get it out in the open and make some money off it syndrome that creeps into our unfettered post-general sarnoff lifes" Vintage Lowell George, 1974 :) So when I see t ehl posts, I don't actually read them either, but I always think about Lowell George, and I am happy the lowell georgeosity has not vanished from the earth :) Chris Johnson
