This way, I can always amplify myself in small venues (like in pubs) and at larger gigs, I am not dependent on bad (or absent) monitoring, because I will plant my own monitor behind myself in such cases. I'm considering a monitor from the LEM performance series (the blue ones, LEM PFM 12.2A, a larger one isn't convenient because of size/weight), because of price/quality matters.
