i've never really posted in this forum, but i come here and there's numerous posts putting down the music industry of today. it seems that the [i]mainstream[/i] music industry of today is going down the toilet. meanwhile, i don't know about up there, but in australia the underground music industry is fairly large, and there's so much unsigned tallent locally, of almost all genres. when the musicians lose faith in music, something is very very wrong. *shakes head in shame* what the hell is wrong with the world today? i wish i was alive in the 70s.

I dont think its entirely the fault of the music industy ... Afterall its the public who buy all the maufactured crap that gets churned out... In the UK we dont even have a proper Rock Radio station ...so its wall to wall sickly pop or horrible MOR muck. Still, Nickleback shifted over a million units in 2002 without airplay...says something! I think The Datsuns are quite a good Aussie rock outfit destined for something..maybe.

I would agree there is much better music in the underground. There isn't the same pressure to have a marketable product. The major record companies have gone off of the deep end and the only way to fix it is to stay away from the garbage thay are selling. I don't know about Scotland but you cant turn on a radio for five minutes in the U.S. without hearing a stinking Nickelback song. They are on the Clear Channel list of songs to play every ten minutes. Speaking only for myself I would say the days of turning on the radio and hearing a song that just blows you away are behind us. If you want good music you have to go out and look for it. That mjust makes it harder for the truly talented to shine through.
