Frayo
Is there a pitch recognizer out there that you can sing or hum a tune into and it'll put it to notes or better yet MIDI signals? zeronyne
The only one I know of that was recently on the market: http://www.vg-8.com/accessories/gi-10.jpg It's mainly a guitar-MIDI convertor, but it has a monophonic input for any audio source. I've used this with varying degrees of success with voice and theremin. You REALLY have to sing in a rigid way to take advantage of it as an input device. No vibrato, percussive attack, no "swooping to pitch". If you don't "input quantize" the pitch, you could easily clog your data stream with unintended pitchbend messages. The Boss DR-5 also has a rudimentary pitch to MIDI function. The absolute best hardware piece I've ever used for this task, however, is the Fairlight Voicetracker. http://www.ghservices.com/gregh/fairligh/vt.gif(I swear I had a black one, but I may have just been hallucinating). You can find out a lot about this incredible piece HERE. I've been looking for one for a while. You could also BUILD ONE YOURSELF. If you have a computer, there are a few more options: VST plug in for Mac OS9 A pretty good one for XP (got a good review in EM). ANOTHER ONE FOR WINDOWS AUTOSCORE. Good luck! "For instance" is not proof.
Frayo
Thanks a lot! I mean A LOT!!Im now off to try and record this weird ass melody that I cant seem to pick out on keyboards I already knew about the Fairlight Machine. I am a big fan of that and other Fairlight machines...those guys were geniuses.
