not Cereal Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 hmm, i am noticing this more and more - songs that have very wonderful intro's, only to either go nowhere or go somewhere i consider stupid. i am thinking that avril levine(sp) song "complicated". wonderful intro, i love the vocal melody and chord changes. soon as it hits the chorus i hate it. stoopid. should develope the intro, which is good. also, COLD PLAY "in my place". another wonderful intro, and the song goes nowhere. it just is stagnant. i really wish i could enjoy these two tunes because i love how they start, but then they suck. which tunes did i miss?
Bunny Knutson Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 Well, this is just slightly old-school, but I always thought the intro to Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" was pretty cool, while the rest of the song blows hearty chunks sideways. I think Pearl Jam ripped off that riff in "Jeremy." Can anyone think of an example of a variation of that phrase used before Bon Jovi? I'm sure there must be at least one. I refuse to accept the idea that Bon Jovi possessed an ounce of originality. :freak: :D https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/

Dead or Alive - 1986 Dear Prudence - 1968 Matt In two days, it won't matter.
Anita Fix Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 Maybe I'm off thread but I'd like to say that in my young life, the Beatles were as close as I ever got to religion.
Hippie Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 Coaster, you alright man? In two days, it won't matter.

Matt.Hepworth Posted December 15, 2002 Posted December 15, 2002 Blurry - Puddle of Mudd. RHCP - Under the Bridge (doesn't suck, but not as cool as the intro) Most Creed songs. No matter how good something is, there will always be someone blasting away on a forum somewhere about how much they hate it.
The Studio Pet-Rock Posted December 15, 2002 Posted December 15, 2002 "Go" off of Pearl Jams' vs. album. Well...the song as a whole is good, but that drum/bass intro just left me expecting a hell of a lot more than I ended up with. .....Kinda like my last relationship.
Tedster Posted December 15, 2002 Posted December 15, 2002 I always thought a cool intro on a sucky song was (and bear in mind, I'm mostly an Eagles fan) but, James Dean. I thought the intro was kinda cool...and the rest of the song was as dumb as a box of rocks. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
not Cereal Posted December 15, 2002 Author Posted December 15, 2002 there was a girl at my job a while ago; she was nice but pretty er, uh, "not smart". she was kinda dumb. a coworker started calling her "box of rocks" to her face and everything. she never got it. every time i hear the phrase "box of rocks" i think of that.
