coyote
Has anyone ever seen this lady play? She can do more on her feet than most can do on their hands. Most jazz Hammond players can't come close to her pedal technique. I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football. DafDuc
I've only heard her play legitimate repertoire - where she RULES! But I havrn't heard her play jazz or gospel. Cross-genre comparisons can be kinda shaky. My organ teacher can kick my ass on any Bach piece you put in front of us, but I got it all over him on Hezekiah Walker's stuff. There's some commonality to the playing, but maybe not as much as you'd think. Certainly the classical approach to improv is entirely different from Jazz, and it'd be interesting indeed to hear her try to hold down a strong walking pattern under All The Things You Are while blowing a meaningful solo. Not to say that she couldn't, but few of the legit players I know have the least interest in doing so, much less the ability. YMMV. Daf I played in an 8 piece horn band. We would often get bored.
