hard truth Posted December 13, 2002 Posted December 13, 2002 Is there a VST or MAS plug-in with results akin to the DBX 120A subharmonic synth? I'm looking to create the kind of big bass sound Bill Laswell gets. www.oranjproductions.com
SoundWrangler Posted December 14, 2002 Posted December 14, 2002 I recommend subBASS, by mda. It's among the VST 5.1 plug-ins (& can be installed with SX). You can download it HERE for free (go to the VST Effects page). How much it really "sounds like" the very distinctive dbx unit is debatable, but I would definitely say that subBASS qualifies for "results akin to...". ;) I've gotten very satisfactory results with it, precisely for adding that hi-fi tweaked jazz sound to electric bass - that & judicious compression, & we don't NEED no stinkin' EQ! (As I recall, the "Floppy Bass" & "Reinforcements" presets are good starting points.)
