dementia13
That's a real cool site. I listened to some of the WWT clips on there, and they sound great. I noticed that on the Jazzed to the Max site, you can see the vocalist biographies in English but the instrumentalist biographies show up in Dutch. petros
Superbobus are you Bob Wijnen? Tell us about playing with Toots Thielmans, what's it like for you phrasing ballads with Toots?
Superbobus
That was a bigband gig. Toots is just one of the greatest musicians alive. With ballads it was just "keep the time and let him float over it". After a while it was just easy to add some colors to it. Playing with such great musicians makes it easy to make music. http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life. dementia13
I noticed that one of the song titles was "Smink". Is that a Dutch word? My wife likes to make up little endearment words, sometimes she'll say that she's talking to the dog in her own language, and "shmink" is one of those. I got a kick out of that title. Superbobus
Smink is, AFAIK, Icelandic. It comes from the German word Schmink, which means make up. And especially the make up people use for parties like carnaval (is there an English word for that? Carnival is something else right?). http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life.
Analogaddict
Smink means make up in swedish, too. /J nas
