Phait
Can't find my old thread re: interfaces... anywho, I've searched Tascam, Edirol, emagic, M-Audio... trying to find an affordable ($200 and below) usb Audio-only interface that is also a USB hub - so I can use Logic's XS Key. emagic's A62 M is also a USB hub except it's also MIDI, and I don't need MIDI since I'm not going to be running any softsynths, only recording audio to disk. Their A62 audio-only doesn't offer USB hub. I'm stuck =\
Red Winger
Hey Phait, I thought you got the Big Box, didn't you? That (and even basic Logic) includes a number of softsynths/samplers that you might want to use. Thus, I don't get why you say you won't want midi...don't you want to at least have the option to load up EXS24mkII and play it (as an example)? Besides, if you get a little extra capability, that's not a bad thing. Sounds to me like the A62M may be the way to go. Just my couple of pennies. Cheers, RW "I don't know anything about music. Jeff Klopmeyer
The reason that none of them have this feature is that there is barely enough bandwidth in USB for an audio interface to do its job, much less spare bandwidth through which to funnel more USB data. - Jeff Marketing Communications for MI/Pro Audio My solo music and stuff They Stole My Crayon
Phait
I got big box cause it was the only Logic on eBay at the time, and affordable...

I suppose if it's really an issue of price, then that's one thing. But, for long-term (since you never know where you might want to head with your music), it just seems to me that you ought to have the ability to use those soft synths/samplers when you want to. Whatever you decide...good luck! Cheers, RW "I don't know anything about music. In my line, you don't have to." -Elvis Presley (1935-1977)
Gus Lozada
No M-Audio interface has an USB hub, sorry. I wonder why don't you buy a USB hub? If you do so, please get one with external power adaptor since the ones fed by the USB hub tend to cause certain data loss. A very cheap (but 16 bit / 48 kHz) audio interface WITH mic preamps is the Mobile Pre. That, together with a powered usb hub should be around $ 200. Phait
The reason I'm looking for an interface with USB hub and powered from USB because: I'm out of electrical outlets on my surge strip, which is very conveniently hooked to the edge of my desk for easy access - I *could* get a double sided strip, maybe... I'd considered the MobilePre but wasn't sure if I should settle for anything less than 24/96. And honestly, I really, truly do not see myself using anything MIDI. I'm able to do alot with my Fantom. And yeah, I'm also wanting to keep cost down.
