not Cereal Posted December 9, 2002 Posted December 9, 2002 just got it today! hooked it up, messed with installing extensions (you need to have the right ones or the computer cant find the thing) anyway i am using it in protools 5.1le and already i have reprogrammed one of the buttons to RTZ instead of loop playback. COOL. i have the complete transport on my hands now - no mouse or keyboard needed! also the tools and modes switching are neato...gonna take a month to get used to it (been doin' it the old way for 4 years now) ONE THING i would LOVE but i dont think you can do it is to have the ZOOM buttons (those arrows next to the mode buttons) on the controller. i think you have to have a key-equivalent but i dont think there is one. anyone got it to work?
not Cereal Posted December 10, 2002 Author Posted December 10, 2002 OK FINE I FOUND IT MYSELF. if ya wanna know how, go ahead and look for 4 hours like i did
Record Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Or if you don't want to take 4 hours...use Apple and the brackets for horizontal zoom and Apple, Option and the brackets for vertical! Well at least in TDM!!
not Cereal Posted December 10, 2002 Author Posted December 10, 2002 yea thats what i found by digging at digi's site. it works in le and tdm. ok i admit i wasnt digging for the full four hours, more like 20 minutes ;) i used to have the cheet sheet for the hot keys, but it got lost in the GREAT FLOOD (along with a bunch of other stuff) anyway i downloaded the cheet sheet in PDF from digi's site. i find digi's site harder and harder to navigate everytime i go there, although i mostly stopped going there after the 001 fiasco. i used to be a protools NUT but ever since the 001 fiasco i recommmend anyone who asks to get the motu setup
Valkyrie Sound Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Glad you found this stuff for me! :D I hope to be getting one soon and the major thing for me would be the Zoom... nice work! :) Valky Valkyrie Sound: http://www.vsoundinc.com Now at TSUTAYA USA: http://www.tsutayausa.com
Valkyrie Sound Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 I forgot... I saw some button labels on the contour website.... Have you used them? They're only a PDF file with the shapes to cut out... Do the clear plastic buttons come off so you can put the label under or what? not Cereal Posted December 10, 2002 Author Posted December 10, 2002 it comes with those labels on a sheet that is preforated so the labels are pre-printed and come out without cutting. it also has a blank sheet of the same. i dig this thing, but i cant stop using the damn keyboard! old habits are tough to break!!!!!! i gotta get my hand on it more or i wont use it like its s'poseda be used
ECBRules Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 What might I ask is the 001 fiasco? And which control surface did you hook up? O, mighty The great space Coasterberger K http://www.kennyruyter.com/old/cowmix.mp3 <- Cowbell fever REMIX oh damn!!! http://www.eastcoastbands.com aka: ECBRules . thisOLDdude . keny . Scooch
not Cereal Posted December 10, 2002 Author Posted December 10, 2002 001 fiasco> if you want to upgrade to an 001 from an am3 you have to rebuy the liscence for software you already own. you now have two liscenced copies of software. you have not recieved an upgrade, you have re-purchased a system you have already paid more than triple the price of the new interface. i aint going into this..it got real bad around the duc...a bunch of us folks abandoned our faith in protools....i still use protools daily for almost all things editwise but its not jesus anymore-its just another chunk o'junk like cubase. There are those among us that believe digidesign to be at a deeper root of all evil than even the great almighty Micro$oft
not Cereal Posted December 10, 2002 Author Posted December 10, 2002 "control surface"? er um its a thingy doohicky its this thingy: its really neat. ask me about it! i have about 2.5 hours experience yet so i still is a dumbass :freak:
ECBRules Posted December 10, 2002 Posted December 10, 2002 Really, That sucks. I have an 001, it's my first experience with pt. I was enjoying the duc for a longtime, but I came to realize that the people at digidesign are definately moderating that board in their own interests, and though there is a sense of unity among the users there, Some of the posts that are a little edgy get deleted for no good reason. That's why I've been here more lately, it's because I'm a postaholic and can't stand the DUC anymore. I do admit that the digidoods put out some good product, but they are really bad about keeping their proprietary junk proprietary. That being said, I am really happy with my 001 setup, and the DUC was useful in helping me learn and solve a lot of problems. It also lead me to believe that the motherboard I got was good, when it turned out to be an expensive terd(asus a7v333). http://www.kennyruyter.com/old/cowmix.mp3 <- Cowbell fever REMIX oh damn!!! http://www.eastcoastbands.com aka: ECBRules . thisOLDdude . keny . not Cereal Posted December 10, 2002 Author Posted December 10, 2002 hey there thisOLDdude you seem pretty alright kinda guy! yea the 001 is nice. it costs about $700-800 or so. i paid $1100 for an am3 card and then another $350-400 for updates to protools and then the 001 came out. no option for us oldies that worked digi through 4.x versions with them making it work. there was NO rtas in version 4.x. my buddy re-bought the setup and has the 001 and a am3 sitting there on the shelf. i refuse. if i buy more, i buy motu. the shuttle pro is about $90 after it gets to your door. i bought from ebay
