Dave Horne
I have been looking for a replacement for my seat cushion for over ten years. I've included a link where you can take a look if you're interested. http://members.home.nl/davehorne/photos/cushion.JPG (about 80K) It looks like it's made by Rubber Maid, but they claim not to have ever made seat cushions. I use mine on jobs to keep my pants from getting shiny and my rear end from becoming sweaty. Have you ever seen one in a store recently? If you have, please let me know and I will contact them. Thanks! Dave Horne No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments. Krakit
First off, if you use this thing for playing, then it isn't off topic. Second, I've seen these things in car accessory stores all the time. I belived that that is the primary reason for its existance. You are the first person I have ever heard mention using one of these "cushions" for anything else. BTW, I don't think I would call it a cushion at all. It isn't very "pillow like". I think they call them aerators. Carl
Dave Horne
Krakit, Please let me know the name of the store where you have seen that specific seat cushion. Thanks! Dave HorneI would have thought a wicker one would have worked better. Those used to be readilly available when I lived in a hot climate. Besides, with the rubber one, if your band lands in beer, its useless as a flotation device.
Dave Horne
I spent a few hours today at a bike day in a city near by and rode a few recumbents. I saw a new material that shows a lot of promise both for seats of bikes and for car seats. The material allows you to breathe so you wind up less sweaty ... that's the claim, anyway. I'll post a link here for those of you who ride recumbents and wish to upgrade your seat material. As far as I can fathom, the material, ventisit, is only available in the Netherlands. I'm trying to find out where it is made and if it is called by another name. I am planning to buy this for my bike and possibly for my car as well. (I will also use it on jobs to sit on.) Here's a link where you can have a look ... http://www.smitveld.nl/ventisit.htm No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message.
