Dan O
I'm curios how many have caught the Volks Wagon commercial offering a I POD with the purchase ? I am curios about the music ? Does anyone know the song ? Do you think the music is effective ? Strange ? Any thoughts ? "Just follow the day... , just follow the day" Dano Ps... I saw a commercial the other day using the Who's "Happy Jack" , kind of humorous . www.esnips.com/web/SongsfromDanO

Mark Zeger
Dano That Hummer "Soap Box Derby" featuring "Happy Jack" spot is great. There was an article about commercials for Hummer and Toyota Prius in today's NY Times. Apparently, that Hummer spot was done by the director of the movie "Shine". Here is a link to it: http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/11/business/media/11ADCO.html

Mark Zeger
Purely from a creative view, I like the "Pods Unite" spot. They created a nice relationship between the design aesthetics of the Beetle and the iPod. I haven't seen the results of the promotion from an advertising/marketing/sales perspective. VW sales have softened considerably, but apparently they doesn't want to play the "end-of-model year customer cash game" as other auto makers do. For a young car buyer, an iPod has more perceived value than the couple of hundred bucks it costs, so it could tip an already close buying decision towards VW. Stark white background, very Kubrick-esque, almost a little creepy. A young boy is being spoken to on various topics, one on one, by notables including John Wooden, Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Penny Marshall, and Muhammed Ali. (How did Penny Marshall get in this commercial?) Very cool spot. I saw it first during the US Open. It will probably run during NFL games. Miss: Levitra. It's the "new Viagra". Features a middle aged guy, in his backyard, trying to throw a football through a tire. Get it? He can't get the ball in the hole? Cut to product shot of Levitra. Return to guy, who now CAN get his ball through the tire. His wife appears to give him an intimate hug. Fade out.
