Cowbell Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 Ok, I'm thinking of getting some mic stuff this Christmas, and I gotta know what to hint to my friends and stuff. The shower was a good start, now I think I have earned the mic. What are some of the good mic brands out there? Isee an AKG D8000 S Mic package, with 2 mics, cables and stands for $80. Any comments on these mics? I don't want them to be in the Beta price range, but preferably a package. If not, then not expensive, but good quality
Wewus432 Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 One of the best, inexpensive mics around is The Studio Projects B1 . They retail for about $80.00.
Cowbell Posted December 8, 2002 Author Posted December 8, 2002 Hey Wewus, thanks for the link. Is this a mic that I could use when playing a gig? I don't think it said so,if I'm not wrong.I don't think I'll be using it for home studio work, considering I don't have one.... Also, what the hell is a condenser mic??
Wewus432 Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 Sorry Cowbell, I guess you're looking for pa stuff. Have you looked at the Audix stuff?

patrick_dont_fret Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002
Sick of showers
What? You a frickin' stinky hippie or something? I would never leave the house again if I didn't take a shower...
Salty Tonk Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 I agree with Wewus on the Audix mics. And EV makes some drum mikes that are awesome on anything you put them on,vocals, guitar amps, acoustic instruments.I can't remeber the model number.I'll look it up and get back with ya.Although I think they maybe a bit higher in price than the AKG's you mentioned. jgc2002 is not responsible for damages ,injuries and or death as result of above post.Side effects include nasuea, dizziness, dry mouth, vomiting, blurred vision, nervousness, loss of memory and in extreme cases sexual side effects. www.mp3.com/salt_creek
KHAN Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 KHANdenser? :freak: ? :freak: *#$#%$& * poof * @$#%*#$%$# Best bang for the buck mic. SM57. Jack Ortman swore by them. So Many Drummers. So Little Time...
Rog Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 SM57, you can't get that PRO sound without them. They sound so MODERN compared with the older tube Telofunken mics. "That's what the internet is for. Slandering others anonymously." - Banky Edwards.
Salyphus Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 Be sure to put the treble up to at least 3 or 4; go for 5 or 6 if you don't know what you're doing.
offramp Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 Wewus, thanks for that link!! I just found my holiday gift to mahself...like I need another fuckin' microphone....however, at that price, I don't think the wife would even blink. That counts for a lot. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
not Cereal Posted December 8, 2002 Posted December 8, 2002 you could solder a 6x9 car speaker to a 1/4 jack, i know someone who does that  actually it works suprisingly well on kick drum
