Yahoo
Usually I run a wire from the synth's phones jack into my PC line-in on sound card . But, now , I have a better card which uses RCA jacks, and I just want to know the best way to wire this card to my synth. Someone told me to go stereo out of the synth, does that mean use both the righ tand left output from the synth. Suppose i do go R and L out of the synth, do I then go into the sound card with two jacks(R/L) or do i go into the card with just one plug? Just askin' 'kuz this manual with my audio phile 2496 only tells about hooking up clocks and dat recorders , not synths and stuff..

dementia13
Yeah, it's not hard to get a dual cable, with two 1/4" plugs at one end and two RCA plugs at the other end. That way, you can record your synth in stereo. A lot of patches make good advantage of stereo outputs.

Its quite clear what the question is: "How do I wire my beads?". My wife has this board that allows her to line them up as she likes them and then thread them with a needle. That should give you better sound than coming out of the headphone out. Its really just the same as hooking up a dat or cassete recorder. You can get cables that go from 1/4" to RCA. Stereo is two channels. Plugs can either transmit one channel or two (at least in the case of audio). Plugs that transmit stereo - like those on your headphone out from your synth are called "TRS" for tip ring sleeve. But beware - TRS can also be used to transmit a single BALANCED signal. Balanced signals resist hum better than unbalanced signals and so they are used on pro sound as much as possible. RCA plugs only send one channel so you need two for stereo. The outs on a synth also only transmit one channel when they are marked "L and R". This is the usual scheme but some portable keyboards only have headphone outs. You know, in a sort of "Rat Pack" way.
