Renaissance Electronica Project

In mainstream electronic music has molded into a certain form, which lacks the classical skill of playing; that is, ability to control notes, not timbre. Especially instrumental electronic music is built on a principal of repetition: one sequence and it's variations match a song.

Originally playing and structure had more important role. The most selling and recognized electronic music composers (J-M Jarre, Florian/Hutter) combined classical playing and structure into unique timbres and programming.

Renaissance Electronica Project, RET, aims to bring playing (understood more traditionally) and more interesting structure back into instrumental electronica. Project's website and manifest can be found in http://ret.says.it

RET is just launched and meant to be an open collective so I'm looking for interested collaborators. If you're interested in composing this type of music, please take contact.

I'm looking forward for hearing your material, Gulliver. By no means I meant that all RET songs should sound like mine. I'm absolutely open-minded towards all electronic music in the spirit of manifest.

I've got a stack of stuff at my page

It's a lot of sketch-oriented material, loop heavy, but very abstract. Classical work has long been a passion of mine, but I've had little patience for it of late. Perhaps a collaborative effort is precisely what I need to charge up my compositional batteries, if you would.

I listened to your stuff again, Emil. (It is your music, right?) I especially like the second (untitled #2) piece. Great cosmic composition. Too bad you keep them untitled though...

And the whole RET's concept is still a bit unclear to me, sorry.

I am back.
