I wasn't aware that there was a format change from the original version to mkII? The appropriate folder of AIF's is what gets accessed when you load an EXS file (the .exs thing) - the .exs file is essentially a collection of pointers and parameters that tell the EXS24 what samples to load and how to configure the filters, envelopes, etc.

And one MORE thing...

How do you load WAV or AIFF files directly into the EXS24 II?

Hit the "Editor" button that's next to the "Options" button above the volume knob in the EXS GUI. This will open the editor where you can create a new instrument, then add a zone - this enables you to import a single sample or a group all at once with three mapping options.

Once you've done that, save the instrument, go back to the EXS plug-in and load the newly created instrument.

:D

There was no format change from the EXS24 to the MkII, just some added parameters (routing, mod, etc.) Any EXS instrument that could be played by the EXS24 can also be played by the MkII.

Keeping in mind that this is a thread for dummies (me), I copied a folder of EXS24 sounds into the Sampler Instruments folder, but the EXS24 II wouldn't recognize it. Should I rename the folder and give it a .exs extension?

Do you also have a folder called EXSamples in the same place as your Sampler Instruments folder? This is where the actual sample file need to reside. The Sampler Instruments folder holds the .exs files.

Is the folder you copied also named "Sampler Instruments"??? It's possible that a Sampler Instruments folder inside the Sampler Instruments folder might be confusing things.

In your Logic 6 folder, you should basically have it boiled down to two key folders..."Sampler Instruments" (that's anything with a .exs extension), and "EXSamples" (all of the aif and .wav files...the actual samples).

Both of these folders can have sub folders inside them (for obvious organizational reasons), and be named whatever you want them to.

But it should break down like so:

Logic 6 (or 5) folder - and inside of that...

Sampler Instruments (sub folders inside), and EXSamples (sub folders inside).

I hope I didn't make you more confused.

No, it was called Tenor Sax or something to that effect. I'll try moving it to the EXSamples folder (which I DO see there in the same place).

Thanks guyz!!! :thu:

P.S. Regarding Giga CD's, should I copy the entire contents of a CD to the Sampler Instruments folder? The EXS24 book said to copy Giga instruments there, but I don't know whether they mean the entire CD.
