Motif Rhodes patches

Calumet

Recommended Posts

This is a question for anyone who has dealt with the Motif ES.

I really like the Rhodes patches in the Motif - specifically the "Vintage '74". It is the most usable Rhodes I have ever heard from a synth (normally I haul one of my Rhodes pianos to gigs because nothing is close - but the Motif would definately pass on a gig).

As a result, I am thinking about picking up a used Motif. However...maybe someone can tell me...have the Rhodes sounds been changed or improved in the new ES?

Thanks.

Sorry, I was waiting for a non-biased opinion (such as Dave's).

The rhodes samples on the Motif ES are the same as the Motif. The are however some differences.

The filters and envelopes in the ES are much improved. The ES also has much more in the effects department including new Phaser effects.

With the changes in the filters, envelopes and effects I think you'll find a noticable improvement in the rhodes sounds in the ES compared to original Motif.

I like them much better than the ones in the S90. Steve Fortner was checking them out at my place yesterday - he was also pretty darn impressed.

I don't know if they're the same patches. More than a few of them seem to have the same names as the older boards, but I can't imagine that they weren't tweaked.

I'll tell you this - they sound pretty freakin' great... :thu::D:cool:

Hmmm... if all that is true a Motif ES module just might be in my future.

I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist.

This ain't no track meet; this is football.
