Ever have those nights......

...at a gig where you think to yourself "why didn't I just take up the trumpet?"

You know, hauling your keyboards, the stand(s), rack rig, amp, etc...

:D

Sometimes I think we should get paid by the weight (and no, not personal ...cuz then I'd always win  ).

LOL.... just another Sunday night random thought after last night's gig.

LOL!!

We often say that! Yeah, my drummer and I often discuss this aspect of playing in a band :)

Of course, last night, while setting up, the night club had "drill team twister" going on right in front of the stage... somehow we forgot all about all the gear he and I were moving.

(drill team twister= radio station "girls" playing twister in their "cheerleading " outfits.)

That's when he and I looked at each other and said " it's good to be the band ! "

Actually, I'd rather haul the drummer's gear. While bulky, it weighs a hell of a lot less than my 'boards do.

And now that our drummer has gone to synth drums, ALL his drums fit in one Tupperware pie container!!!

My only problem with the weight of my gear is the amount of time it takes for my hands to feel right after setting up. I usually like to be setup at least an hour before I play. My bandmates just think I'm punctual. Truth is, I'd suck for the half of the set if I showed up any later.

I second that. The pc88mx in its case absolutely kills my hands/fingers. Nothing is better than gigs where there is a piano waiting for me.. yummy...

OK, I'll say it again.

Dear synth companies,

where is a *fully weighted* master controller/digital piano/synth with *76 KEYS*, wheels on top to keep it small, decent MIDI implementation, and REALLY portable?! We musicians know it's not too difficult to make.

Pianists like weighted keys. But they don't like to carry 50/60 lbs just before playing. It hurts our playing, and our health. Why do you think we should take this?

Yamaha? Someone?

Hey-- As a gigging trumpet player and keyboardist, I resemble that remark...

I feel your gear pain. Nothing like humpin' 200 pound subs out on a wet, dirty beer stained bar floor at 3 in the mornin... :freak:

Nice looking kit, Bleen, but it still weighs less than two keyboards in cases. ;)

I'm not so sure about that - the three hardware bags alone weigh in at almost 200lbs. - there's a lot of metal on my kit! Add in the cymbal case and 7-8 drum cases....plus the number of trips it takes to carry it all... :freak:

I'll trade ya'! :D

Yes, I have to concur; being a working drummer myself, oftentime the biggest issue for me is after loading all the kit into my truck, driving to the gig, unloading it all, hauling it to the playing area/stage/bandstand, setting it all up then BAM!- I am too pooped out to play! Any body ever feel this way? The pro musicians that have full time roadies really are doing it right in my opinion!
This way, no, wait, that way!
