Anything that will turn midi into audio, basically. This could be:

A synthesizer/home keyboard (any type of keyboard with a midi in, basically)

A module (again, midi in), sampler

A laptop running some kind of softsynth

which would have the sound you want (bass, pad, lead synth line, etc) You would then connect its audio output to the amp.

Remember, all the controller will generate is events, such note was triggered with this velocity, when such note was released, if any knobs or sliders were moved, etc.

Korg Kronos X73 / ARP Odyssey / Motif ES Rack / Roland D-05 / JP-08 / SE-05 / Jupiter Xm / Novation Mininova / NL2X / Waldorf Pulse II

MBP-LOGIC

American Deluxe P-Bass, Yamaha RBX760

I figured thats what the controller did. Where can I find a module with a basic set of sounds? LI'm used to composing in cakewalk by clicking all my notes in, where can I get a basic module with all those sounds in the patch list. Also, I did some work with Sound Fonts.. is there any way to incorperate that?

Don't forget a midi chord! ;)

Yes, you need an adapter. Those are easy to find but I suspect any unit that only has RCA outs is a toy rather than a real musical instrument.
