OT: I Got A New Day Job

KCers,

A really great thing happened a couple of weeks ago. My old boss from OmniSky called me up and offered me a job with his consulting company. I accepted, and my first engagement is running IT Operations for a really exciting startup in Mtn View called Tapwave.

The product is cool, and I think it has a decent chance of succeeding. Its a gaming and entertainment hand-held device for the young adult market, and it runs Palm OS (think GameBoy for grownups -- optimized for games, but it's a Palm too, and plays MP3, DVDs, and is a photo album). The company is a bunch of ex-Palm people (like OmniSky was).

What's even more exciting for me personally is getting to go back to my sweet spot from a career perspective, and working with really great people that I already know well.

If any of you find yourself needing help defining and executing an IT roadmap, call us up! ;)Stand Sure Systems

OK, no more plugs...

Congratulations, and it's an interesting-sounding product, too. Does it run DooM?

Well, the folks here are being pretty hush-hush about what games that will be available on launch day. But let's just say that old-school gamers will not be disappointed. ;)

Go to www.tapwave.com if you're curious about this product. If the answers to your questions are found there, then I know I'm not breaking my NDA. And I don't have to keep up with the marketing people about what's public and not.:cool:

Hmmmm. Sounds like the wrong reason to do a startup Dave. 1 out of 10 survive, not good odds. But I love startups -- the crazy energy and the sense of *building* something is just so cool.

However, I always make sure I'm getting paid up front. Options are all fine and well, but I'm not interested in taking a pay cut for extra options.

Ah yes, 9 out of 10 fail, but the 1 out of 10 that succeeds will be the one I pick (or start)! I already did one that succeeded (got bought by a much larger company). I waited and looked for over a year to find just the right opportunity that time. I can do the same thing again, I'm sure. :thu: Stay tuned. :)

ay, I got a new job too :thu:

I'm going from making pizzas to construction :thu:

The construction should be right up my alley.

I think I'll be working with just the one owner of the co.

We make decks(perfectly) , basements, anything. the boss man built his own home , and it's beautiful. I start tomorrow.

wish me luck I don't fall off a roof

And with this new job , I 've finally made it; I can now afford any synth I want  of joy!

Wo knows what I'll end up with, NL3 (hmm) Waldorf Q+ , Virus Kc(sounds good , not like literally) , Waldorf Xtk( if I can even find one) Hmm . I'm definitely happy though.

while I'm at it, I should figure out what I need to make my guitar and keys record with quality into my PC. I have a 24 bit card, but I think I need a pre amp.
