Dave Bryce
Okay, I admit it. I stole this from Fletcher's forum: How many forum members does it take to change a light bulb? 1 to change the light bulb and to post that the light bulb has been changed 14 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently 7 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs 27 to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs 53 to flame the spell checkers 41 to correct spelling/grammar flames 6 to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ... another 6 to condemn those 6 as anal-retentive 2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp" 15 know-it-alls who claim *they* were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct 156 to email the participant's ISPs complaining that they are in violation of their "acceptable use policy" 109 to post that this forum is not about light bulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb forum 203 to demand that cross posting to hardware forum, off-topic forum, and lightbulb forum about changing light bulbs be stopped 111 to defend the posting to this forum saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts *are* relevant to this forum 306 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty 27 to post URL's where one can see examples of different light bulbs 14 to post that the URL's were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL's 3 to post about links they found from the URL's that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group 33 to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too" 12 to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy 19 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three" 4 to suggest that posters request the light bulb FAQ 44 to ask what is a "FAQ" 4 to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?" 143 to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs" 1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==

rylos
1 to say that they had a grandparent that once met Thomas Edison, and that his use of a light bulb was way better than anyone uses them today. 63 to put forth that it's counter-productive to use light bulbs, as the light quality from kerosene lamps is much more desirable, being "warmer". Bucktunes
And one to point out that the light bulb is an obsolete relic of the 20th century - far out-performed by the modern compact flourescent bulb. It puts out 5 times more light per watt, puts out a similar fraction of the heat, and lasts for years. Then again, somebody else will chime in about the "warm, vintage glow" of traditional light bulbs... Peace all, Steve ><> Steve

Dave Horne
I live 30 minutes away from the world headquarters of Philips Electronics which is located in Eindhoven. Eindhoven's nickname is the city of lights, named because Philips makes light bulbs among many other products. They employ thousands of people in the area and are a pretty big deal. I play occasionally in the house of the original founder of Philips and they sometimes have private parties for departing company officiers. They have on occasion given a v.p./department head a gift which is one of the original old fashioned light bulbs, the ones from over 100 years ago; those suckers are a foot or bigger in size and really look amazing. No point to this, just rambling. It's not often light bulbs are a topic of conversation. No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments.

Lee Flier
You forgot: 27 conservatives to whine about how the light bulb is never actually going to get changed because you have to hire a union worker to change them and everybody knows union workers are lazy and useless. And 43 liberals to sue the light bulb company for damages when they fall off the ladder trying to change it.

rylos
... and does the light bulb shine better if you use Monster cable or is that just a myth? Not only brighter, but the light is "purer", which will make will make anything you read under them have better grammer and more meaning. But only when using hydroelectric-generated power. Can't get by with the "dirty" electricity from a coal-fired facility. And make sure that the electricity doesn't get "constricted" by running your wires through conduit, or by using less-than-exotic wires and connectors (look up "powersnake cables" with google). If your electricity goes through conduit you won't be able to get as much contrast in what you see, and the detail will also suffer. It puts out 5 times more light per watt, puts out a similar fraction of the heat, and lasts for years. [Cool] The new ones don't last for years. I had some of these from Lights of America that lasted for seven years with a lot of use. Replaced them with new ones of the same brand, which crapped out in a month or two. Like most stuff nowadays, they got cheap on the quality. The light quality was much better than the G.E. ones, which gave light like cheap cool white-type regular flourescents, made you want to puke. And don't forget the people who have to give much-needed advice about how to get the new bulbs up-and-running... "shit" happens. Success Takes Focus.
