Superbobus
Geez, just when I fired up my Rhodes/POD/powered monitor combi for a sweet bossanova gig, I hear "sssccrrrrggghhhheeeeaaaahhh" (or something like that) on preset !a. That was the preset were my sig sound used to be! After that I found out all presets are set back to factory settings! Is there something like a backup battery inside? If that's the case, I'm fucked. At least I have the JC120 emulation back, which I erased by accident and couldn't get back, so the gig was not totally destroyed. http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life. David Loving
Sometimes life boils down to a 9v. battery. I hope that's not what happened to you but it sure sounds like it. Good luck. "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."
Superbobus
I can't find a way to open this unit to see if I have to replace any battery end the manual's gone too. #%$&*^#!!! So for now, I just use that JC120 and put in FX manually. http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life.
Dave Horne
Even though I can't prove this, I think that the power supply at hotels and restaurants, with all of their electronic devices (and things like vacuum cleaners, air conditioners, etc.), contributes to a lot of problems we encounter with our computer-like devices. I _never_ have a problem at home with a device losing its memory, but I have had all kinds of problems on jobs (to include the output transistors in my amp actually exploding). As a result, I've since bought a power conditioner. I have no way of knowing for a fact if it is doing its job, but I can at least see the voltage swings by casually looking at its LEDs and feel somewhat reassured. Superbob, have your problems with equipment been _only_ on jobs or do you also have problems occasionally with equipment at home? No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. Superbobus
At home I saw sometimes a little spark when I plugged out some cables. Not good either! And I just had a guy visiting me showing his new (second hand) iBook. When he plugged it in he also saw a spark. I guess it's time to call an electrician. The POD is almost four years old. http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life.

michael saulnier
Being a keyboard player, I'm guessing you're more comfortable with MIDI than many straight guitarists... In order to help yourself in the event of future problems, I would suggest using the free SoundDiver version Line6 makes available for the POD. This, combined with MIDI connections to the POD gives you subtantially easier and deeper editing capability, access to lots of other user patches, and most importantly for your situation, a librarian capability to store an unlimited number of patches that can be reloaded into your or any other POD. So even if you someday have to replace the little guy... you can easily have "your" sounds back. Once I started editing patches using SoundDiver, I NEVER went back to trying to edit them from the front panel! The new PODxt DOESN'T yet have a similar software editing solution and when it does, the patches for the POD 2.x won't be directly compatable. Maybe someone will write a utility, who knows? guitplayer I'm still "guitplayer"! Dave Horne
UPS - Uninterruptible Power Supply. A battery backup device that constantly monitors the 'wall power source' and makes corrections to keep the line voltage 115 or 230 VAC. If there's a power dropout or total failure, the unit instantly supplies 115 or 230 VAC for x number of minutes. I have one for my home computer and if there's a power outage, it even shuts down the computer after it saves any opened documents. I don't have one for jobs, but if they made something small enough, I'd consider it. The weight of the lead battery is substantial. No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message.
