Geoff Grace
There's not a lot for us keyboard players at Summer NAMM shows, but here's what I know of so far: (Click on an image to read more...) http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAMM03/Content/Korg/PR/microKONTROL.jpg Korg microKONTROL http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAMM03/Content/Korg/PR/PA1XPRO.jpg Korg Pa1X Pro Professional Arranger http://www.moogmusic.com/news/bytes/042803/images/PB4.jpg Moog PianoBar http://namm.harmony-central.com/SNAMM03/Content/Yamaha/PR/Motif-ES-7-sm.jpg Yamaha MOTIF ES Series If any forum members are walking the show floor, please feel free to share! Dave Horne
Geoff, I've never attended a musical instrument fair. How does one gain entrance to a fair like this? Do you have to be a member of NAMM. Can you simply pay at the door? What is the European equivalent of this or is this a worldwide fair with locations changing every year? This seems like something Id like to attend. Thanks, Dave No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments. Geoff Grace
Dave, officially "attendance at NAMM trade shows is restricted to companies who make, buy, and/or sell musical instruments and products." (Posted at the NAMM site .) However, that's not entirely true. People who don't fit that criteria are often given entrance to the show by people who do. Personally, I've gained access to NAMM shows through recording artists, equipment manufacturers, and The Recording Academy . Winter NAMM shows are always in the LA area. They are traditionally in Anaheim across the street from Disneyland, but they were also in downtown Los Angeles for a couple of years while the Anaheim Convention Center was being renovated. The Summer NAMM shows have been held in Nashville for over a decade, but apparently Nashville's lock on Summer NAMM is up for grabs starting in 2005 . There is no European equivalent that I know of. Somewhat similar European shows would be AES Conventions , which are held in a variety of cities, and the Frankfurt Musikmesse . However, the AES Conventions are mostly about recording/audio gear, and they are somewhat smaller gatherings than NAMM shows, while the Musikmesse is more NAMM-like but much bigger. It is the biggest show of its kind in the world. Best, Geoff My Blue Someday appears on Apple Music | Spotify | YouTube | Amazon

zeronyne
The microKONTROL's compact chassis measures 20.63" W x 9.13" D x 2.76" H. Too bad it's not an inch smaller. It would fit nicely in a rack. "For instance" is not proof.
Markyboard
Too bad it's not an inch smaller. It would fit nicely in a rack. Maybe they should make the keys smaller.

Dave Bryce
Well, as usualt, there wasn't a lot in the way of keys...but, then again, Summer NAMM is traditionally mainly a guitar show. My favorite toy at the show? Definitely the new MOTIF. It freakin' rocks, kids. The filters are really smooth and musical sounding, and the big piano is really, really nice. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to get one... dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
