Motif rack - should I get one?

Does anyone own or have experience with the new Motif rack mount unit? I thinking about getting one....I like the Motif sounds, but don't need a sequencer, sampler or another keyboard. Opinions welcomed.

The Motif rack is great, especially if you like the sounds. Double the polyphony of the motif, and they expanded the effects section as well. Bang for the buck? Definately! I would be torn myself to see what's up on the ES front...

For around the price of the K2661, you could get a Kurzweil PC2O AND the Motif rack. I know, it's not nearly the same as the K2661 but you'd get many of the best Kurzweil sounds in a nice package.
Yeah, but the thought of carrying a K2661 under one arm makes me salivate like a wild dog.(I only hope I didn't get infected with rabies)

has Yamaha addressed the MIDI timing problems of the Motif Rack when used in multimode?

because if that slop, herk and jerk is still present, the decision is easy...no effin way!

Go tell someone you love that you love them.

I had not heard this but I hardly visit the Motifator forum. Thanks for bringing it up. I will research before deciding on the rack.

Mike - while we're on this topic: are there any PLG boards that you think really complement the stand Motif Rack. (I was wondering about the analog synth and piano ones in particular). Or is it really a bit redundant with the sounds the Motif already has?

I'll step in since I own 2 of the PLG cards (in my CS6x)

The analog is fantastic - the only 'problem' with it is the cumbersome editing, at least it was in the CS6x/S80/S30 - not sure what has been changed in the MOTIF. Other than that, I really like the way it sounds. No brainer, IMHO - this would be my 1st choice.

The PLG PF card is a waste for the MOTIF. I put it in to have some decent piano sounds so I turn my CS6x into a jack of all trades (the original piano is horrible) - but I don't see any reason to put it in other than polyphony reasons.

My Motif rack arrived yesterday. Yay! Just had some time last night to play around with the presets. In all, very favorable. Nice pianos, EP's, synths and strings. Some fun combo sounds, too. When I have some time, I'll will A/B it with my kurzweil pc2r, and will post my thoughts / opinions.
