In the meantime, there are quite a few Kurzweil users on this board. Maybe they can shed light on the issue... The Kurzweil website has quite a bit of info. Maybe these pages will help. http://www.kurzweilmusicsystems.com/html/reference_info.html http://www.kurzweilmusicsystems.com/html/frequently_asked_questions.html This Index page is handy. It shows what all is on the Kurzweil site: http://www.kurzweilmusicsystems.com/html/ If it's a SCSI related question I might be able to help since I carry SCSI devices (as well as soundware) for the K2x00 series. ~Peter Schouten _..//\_.~_..//\_.~_..//\_ Pyramid Sound Productions Speciality Sounds/SCSI Expansions http://www.pyramid-sound.com
BBach
This is the email I sent to support@kurzweil musicsystems.com: "I recentely bought an Expressionmate. I have a K2000 goingto the main midi in and a Yamaha G50 midi to guitar converter plugged into the Aux. The merge functions workedfine at first and then the Aux in (G50) stopped working. Iswitched midi ins and the guitar controller worked and the k2000 didn't. I checked the merge functions in the Globalparameters and all was set as it should be. I did a restore of the factory set ups and the merge functions started workingagain. The next time I turned my stuff on the merge did notfunction. I reset the unit again but it didn't work. I did themidi diagnostic test and they passed. The Merge functionsdon't seem to have any effect. If I turn off the Main In, it stillworks. I am perplexed. Brian Bach"If anyone on the forum has any insight or ideasI would be most appreciative Thanks
bitdump
This is very odd indeed. I will try look into it as I have an XM1 at home but right now I am not using the merging features. One thing I can suggest now is to check the Battery. It could be having errors keeping things in memory due to low voltage. If it seems ok after a reset and the MIDI loopback test passes, It at least rules out some of the hardware. Again I take a peep at home, but I've not had this happen, but on occation after a while not being turned on, my Mate seems to have some boot errors and likes to be reset. coyote
My ExpMate is working properly on all ports. Merging from main to aux, and from aux to main. As a netadmin I always look for physical problems before I look to programming problems - so many times you get the call and go, only to find a switch is off or a cable unplugged. Is it possible you have some debris in the AuxIn port? Have you ruled out cable problems? While you await Kurz's response you may want to check and recheck all your MIDI cables, andd perhaps give the AuxIn port a quick blast or two with compressed air. I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football. bitdump
i checked mine and had no problems. at this point I refer back to checking the battery first. Also of course as mentioned all cables and such. If it is all a no go then I would take it into the shop. Carlito
Hey George, if you're still there, I have a quick question about the KME-61. I downloaded and read the manual a few times.I couldn't find any parameter in the setup section that would allow me to switch the keyboard off for an individual channel, so it could be played by another keyboard.Ex.Channel 1 with a piano sound played by my weighted keyboard and still being able to use the controllers on the KME to manipulate that sound.(String level in a piano layer). The only controller my 88 has is a sustain pedal, and I didn't wanna add any outboard device. Also, can I reassign some of the controllers, and how will they behave in a setup with three sounds responding differently to one controller? Hey, I'm not expecting too much midi control from a $700.00 keyboard, and the sounds alone are worth the money , but I'm curious. Thanks. PS. You can add more pictures of the K2661 in your Website. My bib is getting dry.

The KME recieves on all 16 channels unless you dissable their recieve. The manual is not clear whether the preset controller assignements could be changed. like foot pedal , M.wheel and the cont. slider reassigned to other functions . Thanks for the pictures, George. That baby is so cute!!!
