LawrenceF Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 Have you guys seen this? Looks pretty cool. JL Cooper Lawrence
soapbox Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 Lawrence, I saw one at AES last month. Man those things are small! Those images you posted are just about life-size! I got the feeling that I'd have to have guitar player-style calluses on my fingers to comfortably move those tiny faders all day! However, I didn't try it out. It looks like a toy in person; but then again so do many small, but powerful gadgets. Enthusiasm powers the world. Craig Anderton's Archiving Article
Groovepusher Sly Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 32 faders is kinda cool, I'd have to check out the little nubs to see how they feel. How much? Sly  Whasineva ehaiz, ehissgot ta be Funky!
Anderton Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 I got to play with it and was surprised that it was much easier to manipulate than I would have expected. It is indeed a very cool box. I wrote a First Look on this in the December issue of EQ, which will be out in a couple weeks. Anderton Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 I forgot to mention...it's CS-10 compatible, so pretty much everything will work with it. velvetoceansound Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 Craig, Do you mid explaining a little about what CS-10 is? A communication protocol? Does PTLE speak CS-10? Thanks. James
LawrenceF Posted November 22, 2002 Author Posted November 22, 2002 I think CS-10 is one of JL Coopers earlier fader boxes that's supported by most daws. I think. Lawrence

CS-10 was one of the first control surfaces for PT that Digi added into their software. Digi won't add many new 3rd party control surfaces so folks are developing products that "emulate" the CS-10 or Mackie's HUI so they can work with PT. For example, the Tascam US-428 emulates a CS-10 in PT while a Panasonic DA7 emulates a Mackie HUI to work with PT. Hope that helps... Nraki Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 Looks really cool!! Is it gonna work with PT??
Jotown Posted November 22, 2002 Posted November 22, 2002 How much does it cost? Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
LawrenceF Posted November 23, 2002 Author Posted November 23, 2002
Originally posted by Jotown: How much does it cost?
I've seen two different prices in print. One review had it listed at $399 while Sweetwater has it listed at $459 I think. I'd guess that SW's price is more accurate. One down side is no fader motors but hey at that size & price you can't have the world. The upside is it has 32 faders and will be available in USB or MIDI models. Looks good. Lawrence
Bunny Knutson Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 Wow, that little gadget looks pretty cool! They say it will work with most audio software, including: Pro Tools, Cubase SX, VST, Digital Performer, Cakewalk/Sonar, Logic, Nuendo, Sonic Foundry, X-Track, Pyramix, and Ableton Live. Here's a link to a PDF about it. Click here. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/
