To get back to Bb/Cm, i use a C/Dm from D/Em. am i doing it right? its my first time doing a song like this with these set of chords. I'll be looking forward for your tips. Thanks, Kid

When you write Bb/Cm do you mean a C minor chord with a C in the bass? Then it should be written Cm/Bb to avoid confusion. Or do you mean a Bb chord with your left hand and a Cm chord with your right hand? A Bb 13 chord?
Analogaddict Posted November 5, 2002 Posted November 5, 2002 It sounds like you´re talking about minor 11 chords, containing all the notes of the two chords you mention per structure; Cm11, Dm11, Fm11 and Em11. If it sounds right, you´re doing it right. There are many ways to peel a banana, and going from Em11 to Cm11 via Dm11 in parallell movement is one of them. Since you have mediantic relationships between Cm11 and Em11 and between Dm11 and Fm11, you may be able to suspend the feeling of Cm11 as the tonic, if that´s what you want. If you on the contrary want Cm11 to be a strong tonic, you might want to "lead" to it with a G7b2b9, a Bbmaj7, a Db13#11 or something like that. There are many options, and when working with mediantics, two wrongs may very well make a right. If it sounds good, it´s good. /J nas
