This message is just to inform you that a new file has been uploaded to the "files" section of the 16tone mailing list, at the following URL:

Filename: VET-1_Pluggo_Synth.sit

File description:

12-voice polyphonic VST-MAS-RTAS synthesizer plug-in for Cycling '74 Pluggo 3 (dynamic voice allocation). This simple subtractive synthesizer includes a tuning selector for any integer or fractional equal division of the octave (EDO) in the 5-98 EDO range and an "EDO warp LFO" feature that can be used to modulate the octave divisor in order to obtain special detuning effects ("variable temperament"). It responds to MIDI note-on/off, pitch-bend and modulation wheel data.

Victor, while I'm aware that Pluggo 3 is a commercial product, it appears that your soft synth is freeware for those who use Pluggo 3. Is this correct? If so, then I appreciate the heads up; and I want to add what a nice change of pace this is from the spam we sometimes get from new members! I believe that this is a first - a gift from a new member! Thanks. :thu:

BTW, welcome to The Keyboard Corner. Why not tell us a little more about yourself? Reply in our Introductions thread. You can find out more about us as well by reading our posts there.

Best,

Yes, that's true: the VET-1 is free. This is actually a very simple subtractive synthesizer, but you can have some fun with it thanks to the equal tempered alternate tunings. Moreover, some days ago Cycling '74 announced that the "Pluggo 3.0.4 Runtime Installer" is available for free on their website - so almost every Mac user can have fun with the VET-1, as long as (s)he has a VST, MAS or RTAS compatible audio sequencer.

Uh oh... I apologize for the main bugs, many thanks for your tests. I have just uploaded version 1.5. The URL is the same:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/16tone

Bug fixes:

- a bug that prevented the "EDO warp LFO" from working properly with OSC1 has been fixed;

- the filter cutoff slider has been improved and now it also works when holding a note;

- the previous version was designed for working at a fixed host sampling rate of 44100 Hz: now the oscillators will detect the host application sampling rate automatically, so that they should not distort also at higher sampling rates.

New features:

- the filter is now multimode (2 or 4 pole lowpass/highpass/bandpass/notch);

- the oscillators have some additional waveforms;

- pitch bend range is user-editable (1 to 12 semitones, relative to the selected EDO);

- a "pitch scrambler" feature will allow for more subtle analog-like detuning effects;

- the 16 preset patches have been totally reprogrammed.

Other notes:

- version 1.5 uses considerably more CPU power than version 1.0 and you will hear glitches on slower G3 Macs;

- parameter modulation is still not implemented.

Freeware VET-1 synth plug-in (Mac) - Release notes for version 1.6

New features:

- portamento (glide), useful for lead and bass sounds (a value greater than 0 will automatically put the VET-1 in monophonic mode);

- filter saturation (overdrive) enhances filter performance allowing for punchier sounds;

- pre-filter cross-oscillator ring modulator;

- oscillator 2 transposer slider for coarse pitch adjustments;

- pitch bend range is now editable up to 98 semitones, which is more indicated for a variable temperament instrument like this;

- 4 new awful preset patches.

(just click on the "Files" link)

Cheers,
