Roto Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 This is unreal Link With the exception of the wire strings, this instrument is entirely constructed out of LEGO parts--the keyboard, jacks, jack rack, jack rail, plectra, soundboard, bridge, hitch pins, tuning pins, wrestplank, nut, case, legs, lid, lid stick, and music stand are all built out of interlocking ABS (Acrylonitrile-Butadiene-Styrene) plastic bricks and related pieces. And is playable.
Steve LeBlanc Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Wow...that's insane... http://www.henrylim.org/Harpsichord15.jpg http://www.youtube.com/notesleb
burningbusch Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Have you priced out Lego sets recently? The Lego one probably costs more than the real thing. What's that Steve, a Lego Hammond tonewheel generator? Busch.
Calumet Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Did you listen to the sound sample?? HILARIOUS!!! Mitch (This is not to slam on the folks who built it. I'm sure it was quite an undertaking...but the sound sample is really funny!) My band Thousand Houses: www.thousandhouses.com
Roto Posted October 14, 2002 Author Posted October 14, 2002 Actually looks like just the one guy built it, and yeah the mp3 sample is hilarious. Sounds like it could use a tuning. He better call Wewus! That picture above is part of the Harpsichord. According to the website "Underside view of the jack rail. It docks to ledges on the inside of the case, above the jacks. 61 tires to buffer 61 jacks." I don't really know what a jack rail is, but it's cool lego tires...lol
Steve LeBlanc Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 HAHA...just listened to the MP3 sample...noisy as hell and slightly out of tune but hey the thing works...I'm amazed. http://www.youtube.com/notesleb
Superbobus Posted October 14, 2002 Posted October 14, 2002 Where can I get it and for how much? http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life.
Rick K. Posted October 17, 2002 Posted October 17, 2002 The audio sample definately brightened my day. LMAO! I can't imagine where these guys got this idea from. Pretty neat, but man, don't these people have anything better to do with their time? Geez. Rick
bearded yeti Posted October 18, 2002 Posted October 18, 2002 Damn, I'm impressed. I'm surprised that the audio sample contained no mechanical noise whatsoever!
