synthetic Posted October 8, 2002 Posted October 8, 2002 I'm thinking about trading in my old crummy (anonymous brand) mixer for a Mackie LM-3204. I'm looking for a compact mixer (small apartment with girlfriend) with lots of inputs. Unlike my current mixer, it would be nice if the switches didn't crackle, the pots didn't crackle, and the inputs just decide not to pass audio, or decide to lowpass the audio... How about it? Has any of you used a Mackie LM-3204, preferably for a number of years? How does it measure up? I don't want to tour with it, although I understand many do, I just want it to work properly. Also, any alternatives? I'm looking for a compact rackmount mixer with lots of inputs (at least 20) and decent sound. I would love a Speck Xtramix, but I can't afford that. Let me know. Thanks, -jl
Rick K. Posted October 8, 2002 Posted October 8, 2002 I know several guys who use the LM-3204. They are regularly gigging fellas who haven't had any complaints from this specific mixer. Pretty easy and straightforward, Mackie quality. Go for it, you won't be disappointed! Rick
burningbusch Posted October 8, 2002 Posted October 8, 2002 I've got one and it has been a very good purchase. I don't gig, it's only in my home studio. It has been 100% trouble free. I essentially use it as a line mixer, no EQ. I don't understand why Mackie discountinued it. They are quite popular and fill a niche. I've seen them sell on ebay for more than what you could have bought them new. Busch.
