where02190 Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 Being currently dissatisfied with our current web host service, I am in search of a new one. The main issue has been e-mail, having had many e-mails get lost before being delivered to us. Who y'all using, and why? We require 100mb of space on a fast server with multible e-mail account abilities, as well as reliable and courteous tech support. Thanks in advance for your help. It will I am sure be helpful. Hope this is helpful. NP Recording Studios Analog approach to digital recording.
Steve LeBlanc Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 I use http://www.featureprice.com/ for my main site. They've been very reliable (especially email)...offer TONS of space and data transfer for cheap...and you get a dedicated IP. Check them out. http://www.youtube.com/notesleb
Ultravibe Posted November 20, 2002 Posted November 20, 2002 I've been using Hypermart lately. It comes highly recommended from a fellow web designer, and so far no problems. I just moved one of my business's accounts there from XO Communications, which has sucked the big one lately. Andrew Mazzocchi

Best tech support I've ever experienced. I have my own two sites with them, plus four clients, and all experiences have been very positive. They are also very inexpensive! :) --Ethan The acoustic treatment experts Ethan's Audio Expert Book

I used them for a few years before switching over to a freebie ad-sponsored web host , as I no longer run a business and it doesn't make sense to pay for a monthly web hosting fee. Webaxxs was good service-wise and price-wise, but I repeatedly had issues with users not being able to download large files all in one chunk from my web site. When I hosted my video game with WebAxxs, it seemed that there was a percentage of people with high speed connections who could never finish downloading the game on the first try... Naturally, this was a problem since these users had paid for the game -- they were entitled to download the full version of the game hassle-free. Later on, when I hosted my music on the same site, people wrote me saying they couldn't download the entire mp3... I had gone back and forth with WebAxxs about this, but they were never able to find an issue (assuming there was one). It was intermittent, so the problem was never resolved... In any case, I'd still recommend OLM/WebAxxs (especially for their excellent 24-hour support), but only if you're looking at putting together a "standard" web page and are not planning to host mp3s or other large files.
wildplum Posted November 21, 2002 Posted November 21, 2002 i've used west host (www.westhost.com) for the last several years. 100mb, real audio and $8 a month- can't complain. Wildplum Recordings a micro label, studio and remote recording service
