Diff's between Virus B & Virus C?

Can anyone elucidate the differences between the Access Virus version B and the new C?

I spent some time digging around on the Access website and couldn't come up with anything other than the # of voices/polyphony. Anything else? Newly modelled filters or anything? I heard someone say that the new beast sounds "phatter"... any truth to this?

TIA!!!

As far as I can tell, it's mostly bells and whistles. The polyphony does increase, but there's not a lot more that was done to the engine. From what I can tell, the other main difference besides the extra eight voices is the C's front panel redesign, which allows significantly improved access (no pun intended) to a whole bunch more of the unit's parameters from the front panel.

I think they also knocked up the amount of matrix sources and destinations as well - the old stuff allowed something like 3 sources and 6 destinations, where I believe the C allows 6 sources and 9 destinations. As far as I know, that was the only significant change to the engine.

I've heard that there is a new soundset as well, but I don't know if the older synths can use it.

Hope that helps,

Just received my virus C last friday.

I never owned a virus B so can't tell more as what is on their website, but since the virus B was solded out in europe I ordered the virus C.

So far it works like a charm and boy do I like all these knobs :D

I'm very glad I haved buttons back., instead of menustructured lcd screens.. :)

ok for a while but sometimes you just want to turn knobs, and no thinking.. :)

Sound is awsome and dynamic wise on parr with my K 2600.

gigging favorites at the moment LP Special order 1973 and PRS custom 24

Thanks for the comments guys!

Dave, can you comment on the front panel re-design? My only real beef with my Virus B has always been the lack of a numeric keypad on the front panel... scrolling thru patches/parameters/etc. with only a pair of up/down buttons can get mind-bogglingly tedious. Any improvement with the C?

You do make use of the key-modifier shortcuts so you may use the value knob for scrolling, yes? I consider this a must on my Virus b.

The Virus C also has 3-band EQ per channel in the post-engine channel effects...

Go tell someone you love that you love them.
