EricG Posted September 28, 2002 Posted September 28, 2002 The correct name is Tyros. I was invited to a yamaha preview of the keyboard 2 weeks ago. So I got it demonstrated by one of the Tyros development team members. And I got to try it out myself. ( In one and a half week we have it here in the store I work.) Although I am a synth freak.... I was impressed The new Megavoice technologies makes the accompaniments shine. It is used on bass and guitar sounds. (Basically it is one sound that is made out of 7 velocity layers with different playing styles (mutes, slides, picking, ghost notes harmonics,... These sounds are not intended to be played live, hard to control... But with this programmed into the styles Woaahw! And you can take these elements and isolate them for use in your own sequences.) I would actually like to have this keyboard, although I am a synth guy. (And it comes witout speakers, and the design is so nice.)For songwriters this is really great, it has styles in every type of music, from old to new, the destinies child type was so cool... and it is easy to get around. (Not like the Yamaha synths ) OK i ran out of time, can report more later

Bobro Posted September 28, 2002 Posted September 28, 2002 Hmmm...what's in a name? motif NOUN: 1a. A recurrent thematic element in an artistic or literary work. b. A dominant theme or central idea. 2. Music A short rhythmic or melodic passage that is repeated or evoked in various parts of a composition. 3. A repeated figure or design in architecture or decoration. Good name! Classy. Triton NOUN: 1. Greek Mythology A god of the sea, son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, portrayed as having the head and trunk of a man and the tail of a fish. 2. The satellite of Neptune that is seventh in distance from the planet. Great classic synth-type name! Jupiter, Odessey, Andromeda....yip, it's hip. Personally I'd get a kick out of a synth name like "Uranus 666", but people are wierd about names. Just an observation, sounds like they did a great job with the keyboard from EricG's review. Carry on. -Bobro
