Rod S Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 I was always too self conscious to go for it. Turns out this girl who has classes with my piano teacher as well was a singing instructor, and she talked me into it Helps to have classes with someone I know personally, because I feel like a total idiot sometimes. Man, what a blast. I'm actually making a lot more progress than I could ever imagine, and I now I have some confidence I'll actually be able to sing in tune. I feel like a total fool sometimes - do they also make you pronounce all sorts of weird words to practice your speech and to help articulate the words better in English? Sometimes it's hard to keep a straight face with some of the stuff she gets me to sing. Helps too that I'm getting more confident with my piano chops, so I'm really on a roll with my music progress in general. Singing while playing piano will be my next step, but I'll be happy to just be able to sing. Dave Pierce Posted September 16, 2002 Posted September 16, 2002 I've been thinking about taking some singing lessons too. I've never done that before. When I was a kid, before my voice changed, I had a very sweet "boy's choir" kind of voice, and I sang a lot in church. When my voice changed I stopped doing that and sort of lost confidence. I've always sung backups in bands that I'm in, but I'm now actually singing lead on a couple of tunes. It's kind of fun, but I basically suck. I figure if I'm going to keep singing, I oughta at least try to become reasonably good at it. --Dave Make my funk the P-funk. I wants to get funked up. Rod S Posted September 17, 2002 Author Posted September 17, 2002 You know, I was surprised what a little coaching can do - I'm actually reaching notes I didn't think I could do, and I'm getting a lot more confident. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested. Superbobus Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 Man, that's cool! I just heard back some minidiscs the drummer recorded when I was in Egypt. I was doing backing vocals together with the drummer and the bassist and I guess I'm gonna go for some singing lessons too... I mean, it's definitely necessary for me if I want to keep my job in that band. http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life.
Steve LeBlanc Posted September 17, 2002 Posted September 17, 2002 Cool...if I had the extra money to spend I might take some lessons too...enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/notesleb
