My Wife's Show: An Update (She WON!)

You may remember a topic I started recently called My Wife Is In A Show! The show she was in is called 15 Minutes of Fem.

As I mentioned in the other thread, "'FEM' is 15 Minutes of Fem's abbreviation for Female. Over the course of eight nights of FEM shows, a total of 32 women will be featured. There are four performers each night. The following is posted at the FEM Website: 'Each performance, one woman advances to our 'Best Of' night on September 30th. The Grand Prize? One-on-one meetings with LA's Top Casting Directors. And get this: YOU will choose the winner.'"

What I didn't mention was that this is the third edition of this show. 15 Minutes of Fem has run twice before and two 'Best Of' Night winners have already been chosen out of scores of women. My wife, janedoe (her stage name), was the 107th performer in these three editions.

Now here's the big news: my wife won! She will be advancing to the finals on the "Best Of" Night on Monday, September 30th. But wait, there's more! ;)(This next bit of info may be confidential, so please don't reveal it if you go to one of these shows...) janedoe won by the biggest margin in the history of all three editions of 15 Minutes of Fem!

She really did well! I'm so proud of her!

For Angelenos who want to support janedoe on the "Best Of" Night on Monday, September 30th, I should let you know that tickets will be harder to come by that night because many of the seats will be reserved for casting directors. However, a few seats will be available to the public on a first come, first served basis. I don't believe that it's possible to make reservations yet, but I'll post again when I have more info.

Thanks for your support.

Best,

Geoff

Thanks Doug, and welcome to The Keyboard Corner!

It looks like you've already posted here a few times, but you're new enough that you might be interested to know about the Introductions thread that our moderator Dave Bryce started. You're welcome to read it and get to know us a little better, and please feel free to post in it and tell us a little bit about yourself.

We've got a great community here. I hope that you'll stick around and continue to join in. Enjoy your stay!

Soap - I just noticed this thread - GREAT NEWS!!!

I hope to have the pleasure of seeing Ongelique perform one of these days. I'm sure that the accolades are well-deserved!!

Well, I lost my previous post (darn browser back button!), so this one will be shorter...

Geoff - it was great seeing you last night, and Ongelique did a WONDERFUL job!

For those of you who weren't fortunate enough to be in attendance, Ongelique (aka Jane Doe) performed a variety of characters showing different experiences relating to a very important women's issue. It was amazing to watch, and we found the performance poignant and thought-provoking. Music seems easy in comparison!

The rest of the evening was filled with performances by other talented "fems" with a variety of characters and situations - all were great.

By now, the decision is in - and Ongelique, we're pulling for you! Wishing you the best, as always.

Laurie, it was great seeing you too. Thank you so much for both your support and for your kind words! It meant a lot to both of us that you and Michael took time from your busy schedules to be there! :)

As Laurie alluded to above, tonight was the finals in the "Best of 15 Minutes of FEM" competition. janedoe gave another great performance tonight as well. Some of our friends who were scattered throughout the audience reported that a number of the industry heavyweights who were there circled janedoe, as their choice to win on their ballots. However, another performer, Alison Quinn, received the most votes of the evening and was crowned 15 Minutes of FEM III's final winner. :(

(Laurie, just in case you need me to jog your memory, Alison was the opener for Act 2. Her act involved wanting to be a stewardess and objecting at her father's wedding.)

Regardless of the final outcome, I'm very proud of janedoe! I felt that she exhibited an impressive range as an actor and that she covered an important subject from a wide variety of perspectives with both depth and humor. (Did I mention that she wrote her own material as well?) Last, but not least, she accomplished all of this in less than 10 minutes (the maximum time allotted to the evening's performers)!

janedoe managed to impress a significant portion of the audience. I hope that this will give her career a much needed lift!

Thanks again Laurie and to all of you who were rooting for janedoe! Thanks for your congratulations as well!
