Analog Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 I have a simple Yamaha PSR-79 keyboard. It's not professional, it's not even a real synth - but the simplicity of it is what I actually like. Anyway... recently I've been curious about effects I can use with it (it doesn't have any), and how to use them. I've seen pass-through pedals and pads which you can use to add flanger, chorus, etc.. but I don't really know which one is recommended, so I came here My PSR-79 has MIDI ports so maybe there's something that I can attach there, but I think a pass-through filter is better, no? To reiterate... I want to know a good, moderately-priced effects pad that has good sound quality and a nice range of customizable effects. Buying a whole new synth/keyboard would be way too expensive.. Thanks, Analog
steinwaym Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 I think that buying something like the new Alesis Picoverb (under $100) would be a good purchase, as you would have many different effects, rather than the one that comes with a pedal.
Botch. Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 A used Midiverb II or III would work nice (I've got two, although I'm now using a Yamaha SPX-900 which is a bit more expensive). With the MIDI outs on your keyboard you should be able to assign the appropriate effect for each patch change, which you'd have to do manually with the Picoverb; if you're just interested in reverb the Pico would be fine too. Synthguy Posted September 4, 2002 Posted September 4, 2002 You might also look at the Alesis AirFX, the Korg Kaoss Pad, and the Zoom processors I hear are good bang for the buck but check them out. This keyboard solo has obviously been tampered with!
Analog Posted September 6, 2002 Author Posted September 6, 2002 Ooh, I especially like the KP2 Kaoss Pad.. I even found some demonstration videos for it, but I'm not sure if they have live input processing (probably does, but I'd rather ask, of course..). The AirFX looks interesting too, but it doesn't seem to be as powerful. As for the Midiverb.. I don't know if it'd be compatible - plus, I was looking for a tabletop\desktop processor. Thanks a lot though
