andres hermoso Posted August 30, 2002 Posted August 30, 2002 I would really apprecciate if anyone can help me finding a device , which I do not know either the name or brand of it but as far as I know it is a complete piano keyboard (just the keys) that doesn't generate sounds with itself, it needs a computer to make the music. What I've in mind is to connect this device to my laptop with speakers then play this keyboard and have a sort of synth. I'm sure it needs special software as well. Any help? Andres
nitecrawler47 Posted August 30, 2002 Posted August 30, 2002 Andres: It sounds like you are describing a midi keyboard controller. They don't generate sounds, generally, on their own; but don't have to be attached to a computer, either. Any midi compatible sound module will suffice. These devices can be found at most any reputable music store, generally in their keyboard section. If you hook up to a computer, make sure your computer will accept midi messages and ,yes, a sound card will also be necessary. By the way, many sound cards do have a midi jack attached. The only other thing you need is a midi cable to attach the two devices. Hope this helps -nitecrawler "Time to head down that old Colorado highway pardner."
