?? sue me... :D

Anyway, I think the Nets are numbskulls. They had a young, fired up team with good chemistry and a lot of upward potential. That's all gone, now. Mutombo's best years are behind him, and he never seemed that amazing in his prime. It's not like they're getting a Hakeem or an Admiral.

Oh, well, one good year will have to be enough, I suppose...

Sorry, Dude, but I'm really fuming over this stupid trade. Do I really have to wait two months to vent? AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!

:D

P.S. If Philly takes the East, I'm gonna be double bummed. :(

Can Philly do that now with Van Horn??

No, venting is acceptable. This was a stupid trade by every definition.

And, not that I give a crap about the Clippers, but they've made their own stupid trade this week, getting rid of Darius Miles.

Keep in mind that the Nets did pick up Rodney Rogers and Chris Childs. It wasn't just Dikembe.

Dan, I think the Nets are stornger now, and an early favorite to take the east again. A front line of Mutombo-Jefferson-Martin will boast the toughest interior D in the league.

Rogers assuages the loss of Van Horn. Keith was a disappointment. Face it. Rogers is a better three point shooter.

The Nets still lack a legit half court scorer, but Van Horn was never really one anyway. Childs was an excellent pickup, now that we know not to expect as much from him as the Knicks did all those years ago.

They're not a complete team--you need a reliable half court scorer to be one--but I don't see how you can say they're worse off after this spate of trades and acquisitions.

Kings signed Keon Clark, a very nice pickup for them. Kings in six against the Lakers next year.

You've got to be kidding...the Clippers just made themselves real contenders with that trade...have you looked at Andre Miller's stats last year..the guy is about as good a point guard as you could ask for. I predict the Clippers not only make the Playoffs but finish at least 4th in the conference.

I think the Nets trade is a good one too...they're way better because of it.

Quit whining...Football seasons starting...let this thread die until Nov.

Chris Childs is no spring chicken, either, and I don't see why you need CC on a team with Jason Kidd.

I think it would have been a good trade if they'd gone for younger guys. KVH was a disappointment -but not a disappointment of the Kerry Kittles magnitude  - but at least he was still young enough to (possibly) progress. DM doesn't have much of a future. He'll probably have to sit out a lot of the season out due to injuries.

Woe is the life of a NJ basketball fan. :D

P.S. I think this is the year that Shaq's body starts to give out.

Yeah, Starts to give out championship rings to his new Laker teammates that is...

Dan don't look at it as if the Nets missed their chance...they never had a chance.

How many different teams does Mutumbo want to get his ass kicked by Shaq for anyway???

You know, steadyb isn't just a good handle for one of our most prominent members; it could be an apt name for our forum, if we ever ditch The Keyboard Corner moniker!

Steady B: a steady flow of basketball posts - all year 'round! :D

I don't think this is a no-brainer at all.

I'm a neutral party as well...I am less of a Clippers fan than I am a fan of many other NBA teams from other cities than L.A.

Of course, I live in a city of 3.5 million people with two NBA teams and no NFL teams, so I know something is f'ed up.

I think he definitly is...his knack for creating assists was amazing in Cleveland...The Clippers have a lot more scorers (a lot of size)...he's gonna have fun. And don't forget Andre is a scorer too and a much better shooter than Miles.

Miles is great and I'll miss him a lot...I really wish Cleveland had taken Lamar Odom instead. No team in their right mind would give Miles away easily but no sane team would turn down the opportunity to have a PG like Andre either.

Take the emotions away and it is a no brainer.

If "The Candy Man" plays as good or better than he did last season...the Lakers...well, no I'm not going there yet :)

OK...I PROMISE I won't post to this thread anymore...going to check out the Football thread now.

Wow, it seems like only yesterday that we were doing the Baskekball thread from last season...

but time sure did fly and here we are to do it all again. Kobe proving yet again he's much greater than Jordan, Shaq dominating, Vlade flopping, Dan dreaming of things that never come to pass...

Go Lakers - Begin the quest for the 4-peat 4-Chick

BTW Laker haters, this one's already in the refrigerator :thu::D

I think the chances of the Lakers not being in the NBA are much less than 1%. :P

Hey Dan,

I sent that PM 2 weeks ago and it was never read, so I deleted it. Anyway, how's the EVOC???

Hey guys, about now I'm sure you heard Alonzo Mourning is out for the year. That hurts for us Heat fans, but his health is more important than basketball.

Yeah, I wonder where they hold the ring ceremony for teams that win the first game of the regular season???

By the way, did you hear...the Sacramento queens are the champions of games vs. the Cleveland Caveliers!!!

Doesn't have the same "ring" to it as World Champions, does it??? (a term we're all too familiar with here in Southern California) :thu:

Enjoy it now, Dan. You can always reflect back wistfully on this post, saying, "Oh, if only the Lakers had continued losing, I'd have been able to keep talking trash to the L.A. fans."

Unfortunately, your Nets won't come close to taking the East this year anyway, so we won't even get to see another horribly mismatched finals. And the Lakers? Championship number four will come quicker than it would seem from the vantage point of October, 81 games and a few rounds of playoffs away.

Word to the wise: toes heal and suspensions end. And winners win.

See you next spring, during the Lakers/Celtics finals! :D

Yes, let's see...the "winners" so far:

- Orlando

- San Antonio

- NoSac-ramento

Sound like a powerhouse group of teams to me! Destined to take it all! We'd better give up now, right B? :D:D:D
