humannoyed Posted August 12, 2002 Posted August 12, 2002 These are a few hundred cheaper than the Mackie 450s which seems to be just about everybody's favorite keyboard rig. I'm using the unpowered Mackie C300s and think they do very well. Day "It is a danger to create something and risk rejection. It is a greater danger to create nothing and allow mediocrity to rule." humannoyed Posted August 16, 2002 Author Posted August 16, 2002 Heads up. There is a flaw in the adverising of the EV SXA 100! It says 350 watts to the L driver, but that is peak burst power, continuous power is only 150w. The Mackie 450 by comparison is 300w RMS(continuous) to the low driver-twice the wattage rating of the EV. Why don't they always rate amps 8 ohms RMS! I still want to hear them though. They have built in high and low eq controls, and they are light weight. Might be great for the low volume society gig. You KNOW you love playing for that crowd. petros Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 That's interesting, I was reading on another board that they are not very loud sounding. I am curious about these speakers , anybody heard them? I have been using Mackie SRM 450 for my digital piano in acoustic jazz combos and they are louder, heavier and bulkier than I need. They sound also sound cold. I have been thinking about 10" powered cabinets by FBT, Yorkville, Mackie and JBL. Thanks Alex in Berkeley

I think it would be a great idea for Keyboard Mag to do a shootout, maybe a blindfold listening test to all these models we've mentioned. Just, please use more than 4 or 5 panel members for the blindfold listening tests, the more the better I say. Day "It is a danger to create something and risk rejection.
