analogman1 Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 Hello everyone, I'm running a demo of Cubase VST on my new Dell Laptop. There's quite a bit of latency when using the VST instruments it comes with. I have not yet purchased a sound card for the laptop. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. (Dell Inspiron 8200, 1.6 gig P-4, 512mb RAM, 30 gig HD, Firewire/USB etc.) Tom Bitondo (PS I need something to do MIDI and AUDIO as well. At first I had considered using the laptop live, to run virtual synths...but these days this is LESS IMPORTANT). Tom Nord Electro 5D, Modal Cobalt 8, Yamaha upright piano, numerous plug-ins...
Rod S Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 Last time I checked, these were the options: Ego Sys Wamibox (not very good latency for softsynths, and support hasn't been great for me) PCMICIA interface. VXPocket 'somethin' - I can't think from the top of my head. PCMCIA Interface. RME was releasing something at the beginning of they year, but I can't remember. also PCMCIA then there's a bunch of USB stuff out there, which I'm not familiar with. Korg Kronos X73 / ARP Odyssey / Motif ES Rack / Roland D-05 / JP-08 / SE-05 / Jupiter Xm / Novation Mininova / NL2X / Waldorf Pulse II MBP-LOGIC American Deluxe P-Bass, Yamaha RBX760
VanZea Posted July 31, 2002 Posted July 31, 2002 I use an Emagic EMI 2|6 USB card. Latency as low as 2 ms, it's even possible to use it 24bits/96khz (stereo only). Check it out! Grtz, Jeroen
