Pim Posted July 16, 2002 Posted July 16, 2002 Petition One Bill Gates with a (non-Korg ) monopoly is enough. Let's persuede Apple to think of Emagic Windows users as well. Even if you're a non-Emagic user, I still ask you to sign, because this may only be the beginning... Petition My Music I always wondered what happened after the fade out?
R.S.M Posted July 17, 2002 Posted July 17, 2002 dude nothing you can do about it. Why are they gunna support old technology there more worried about the new stuff . you will eventually buy it . Hay this is just the beginning .All these software synths and recording programs will be outdated shortly after there released. New computer technology will be released so will new software and the stuff you have now will be left in the past. You will have 5 computers running your old programs parts will be hard to come by look at scsi zips they don't make them anymore resale value will be nothing for software programs at least if you bought a stand alone unit you can resell it later in life. Give you another example bought some software effects about 5 years ago paid about 500 bucks for it Got a new computer set up last year the disk does not work no scraches or anything just wont load emailed company wont even return mail phone calls, thats a joke so now i cant use my effects but that did teach me a lesson to always buy a piece off hardware at least if it breaks it can go to the electronic shop to get fixed. Steve111 Posted July 18, 2002 Posted July 18, 2002 Why is Apple obligated to support a rival platform? Especially if it doesn't make sense for them?

Besides, only 2% of the visitors of my website is actualy using a Mac. Will they really ignore 98% of their potential clients? My Music I always wondered what happened after the fade out?
tofrancehotmail.com Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 The mac is "proffesional". Emagic Logic is "proffesional". Steinberg Cubase are "lamer ware". Lamers use PC:s and craked appz. The real money is on the mac side. (they think...) The time will tell them something diffrent... Best regards; "and sorry for bad English" Jesper N
tofrancehotmail.com Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 I mean, there are more reasons to not support the win-side... Jesper
Superbobus Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 Besides, only 2% of the visitors of my website is actualy using a Mac. Will they really ignore 98% of their potential clients? The reason that the Macintosh has a market share of less than 5% is due to very doubtful monopolizing policy from Microsoft and insecure decisions by Apple in the '90s, until Jobs came back. So now Apple is pulling one stunt like Microsoft always did and everybody's yelling. I do feel sorry for Windows users who spent lots of money on software they can't upgrade anymore but a petition doesn't make any sense. Should I come up with petitions about Microsoft's shameful Mac GUI-ripoff, ridiculous activation keys and more of that? Naaahhh... Also, a big market share doesn't mean it's better. Is an Opel (GM) better than a Mercedes? http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life.
Steve111 Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 Let's look at it a different way... Let's say I want to own a restaurant. I don't want to go to the trouble and expense of starting my own from scratch, so I look for one that's for sale. I find one that I like and buy it. It's got some really great chefs and they make great product. Now, once I buy it, it's mine. It does not belong to the original owners, nor do I have any obligation to fulfilling whatever vision they had for the restaurant. If they were so loyal to the vision, they wouldn't have sold it. Now, because of my own vision, I want to make some changes to the menu. I know that I will lose some customers over this. But I'm convinced that this will be a good decision long-term. Why is it so "wrong" to make a decision like this? Why should I be obligated to continue the legacy of the previous owners simply to please 1/3 of the current customers, especially if I can afford to weather the change financially? Anyone?
Dave Pierce Posted July 19, 2002 Posted July 19, 2002 These are religious issues. You will no more convince a Mac, PC, or UNIX zealot that the other side has a point than you would be able to convince a fundamentalist Christian that Mohammed is the true Prophet. In the business we call this a "Layer 9 problem", which is of course a reference to the 7-Layer OSI Networking model. The 7-Layer model has two little-known additional layers: Layer 8: Political Layer 9: Religious. --Dave Make my funk the P-funk. I wants to get funked up.
