soapbox Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 I'm fresh out of G.A.S. at the moment, having completely rewired and reconfigured my studio from the ground up! It was hard work, but now I'm playing with toys that have sat in my closet for up to a year. New to my setup are a Novation A-Station, a Speck Electronics XTRAMIX, custom-made Canare cables with Neutrik plugs, a Motor Mix, a Phat Boy, a Grace Design Model 101 mic pre, a pair of Speck Electronics Model ASC EQs, an FMR Audio Really Nice Compressor, a Contour Shuttle Pro, a PI Engineering X-Keys Pro, an OASYS PCI card, a Glyph Naked rack with two 18 GB hot-swap drives, a Digidesign ADAT Bridge, and a loaner G4 with a ProTools TDM system. Whew!!! Oh yeah, and I have yet to install, in my old G4, copies of HALion, Reaktor, Absynth, and Battery that are still in my closet. I also bought a used iMac to handle office duties in my studio. Done gloating, Geoff P.S. Remember, I make what passes for a living in this crazy business, so I've gotta have this stuff ... yeah that's it! Enthusiasm powers the world. RABid Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 I truly think I am set for a few years now. The only thing I will consider is a sample library or a software update. Maybe in a few years I will look at the Kurzweil 2700, Roland XZ, or Korg (hmmm, what else starts with a T?) and maybe pick one up then. The only think that would catch my interrest at this time would be a 61 waterfall key controller for the B4. Robert This post edited for speling. My Sweetwater Gear Exchange Page
Dave Bryce Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 I'm another one that's all set. I actually really can't think of any gear that I need. Oh, sure - there's always stuff that I'd like, but I pretty much have more than enough tools to do whatever I need to do. How weird... dB ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <== Professional Affiliations: Royer Labs • Music Player Network
aeon Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 I dont need anything. That said, Ill be ordering an Evolver from Dave Smith as soon as he is ready to take orders. Go tell someone you love that you love them.
S_Gould Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 Yeah, I'm kind of "geared out" for now. I've been surfing the usual gearslut havens and couldn't find anything that cried out to me - so I went out today and bought a Lincoln Navigator to haul stuff around in. Scott
Postman Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 Yeah, me, too. My K2600xs will keep me busy for the forseeable future. You know what's strange? I miss having G.A.S. Before I made the decision to buy the Kurz I used to spend hours on manufacturer's websites pouring over specs and listening to MP3s wondering what to get. It was agonizing, yes, but fun, too. I miss it.
Mats Olsson. Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 It feels like 9-11 cured most of my G.A.S. /Mats http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! When do we want it? Later!
coyote Posted July 12, 2002 Posted July 12, 2002 No more GAS here either. Now it's SUS (Studio Upgrade Syndrome) as I do construction work to improve the sound. Then it will be PAS (Player Acquisition Syndrome) lol I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football.
