Standing in the shadows of Motown Again

Hey, this was mentioned a while back, and I just spotted it on the Keyboard forum. It opens today nationally, just a reminder. I am very happy to know this movie will see the light of day. A few of my mentors and former employers are featured in it. Right here in the Motor City it is only playing in a couple of theatres, it's probably on even fewer screens in your neighborhood. You can bet it won't be around long. If you are standing in line to see 8 Mile, and this flick is playing at the same theatre, go stand in the shadows of Motown instead. I really want to see this... I don't know how wide the distribution is gonna be (probably not that big), but I hope it catch it on the big screen if I'm lucky...

It doesn't give any more detail than that. Unfortunately, I'm going to be busy with other things I have planned for this weekend, but I hope that, if this movie is playing near me, it'll still be in the theaters by next weekend! :(

If you rent, you don't support those who create the work!
Ooops, I didn't think of that :) Actually, I'll probably never own a DVD player and I usually watch movies only once. Maybe I'll try talking my local indie video store into ordering a VHS copy...

He is retired now and he is just really happy for the recognition.

Yeah for the Funk Bros.!!(although when seen on TV recently, there was a definite non-original contingent---who were even reading their parts!). I'm sure any recognotion is appreciated by them...and they may not get any mechanical royalties from the producers of the film but, still, the film producers deserve encouragement, too.

I saw it today. Good band, but the singers, except Chaka of course, couldn't make these songs justice. Bootsy though, was the only one who could hang with the guys outside the stage without making a fool of himself(Chaka was never shown with them outside). /Poelo

BTW, keyboardist Johnny Griffith just passed away this week. bob
Yeah, I heard that there was a priveat screening last week for the cats in the flick that still live in Detroit. God bless you Mr. Griffith. You were a gentleman and a true musical scholar.
