Jotown Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 Hey, this was mentioned a while back, and I just spotted it on the Keyboard forum. It opens today nationally, just a reminder. I am very happy to know this movie will see the light of day. A few of my mentors and former employers are featured in it. Right here in the Motor City it is only playing in a couple of theatres, it's probably on even fewer screens in your neighborhood. You can bet it won't be around long. If you are standing in line to see 8 Mile, and this flick is playing at the same theatre, go stand in the shadows of Motown instead. -_dup1 Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 I really want to see this... I don't know how wide the distribution is gonna be (probably not that big), but I hope it catch it on the big screen if I'm lucky...
Jotown Posted November 15, 2002 Author Posted November 15, 2002 Go to the link. It list's the theaters across the country where it will be shown. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"

It doesn't give any more detail than that. Unfortunately, I'm going to be busy with other things I have planned for this weekend, but I hope that, if this movie is playing near me, it'll still be in the theaters by next weekend! :(
Jotown Posted November 15, 2002 Author Posted November 15, 2002 Clck on "Now Playing". It has a list of the staggered release dates. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"

the people of Earth Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 See the film or buy the DVD instead! If you rent, you don't support those who create the work!

Maybe I'll try talking my local indie video store into ordering a VHS copy...

He is retired now and he is just really happy for the recognition. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
the people of Earth Posted November 15, 2002 Posted November 15, 2002 Yeah for the Funk Bros.!!(although when seen on TV recently, there was a definite non-original contingent---who were even reading their parts!). I'm sure any recognotion is appreciated by them...and they may not get any mechanical royalties from the producers of the film but, still, the film producers deserve encouragement, too.
Poelo Posted November 16, 2002 Posted November 16, 2002 I saw it today. Good band, but the singers, except Chaka of course, couldn't make these songs justice. Bootsy though, was the only one who could hang with the guys outside the stage without making a fool of himself(Chaka was never shown with them outside). /Poelo
RobT Posted November 16, 2002 Posted November 16, 2002 Dang. Its not coming to Charlotte until NEXT month unless I want to drive to D.C. or Atlanta. Sheesh!?!? RobT Famous Musical Quotes: "I would rather play Chiquita Banana and have my swimming pool than play Bach and starve" - Xavier Cugat
Bob Keelan Posted November 16, 2002 Posted November 16, 2002 I'd love to see this. BTW, keyboardist Johnny Griffith just passed away this week. bob

God bless you Mr. Griffith. You were a gentleman and a true musical scholar. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
