schmoron13 Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 I need help ASAP!!! I recently bought a new system ( p4 2.2, 512 ddr ram, 80gb hd, etc... all the works) minus the sound card. i want to put in a good myself (aardvark q10, delta 1010, etc) but in the meantime I'm using the soundcard built in to my soyo dragon ultra motherboard. My problem is that when I reinstalled cakewalk and fruityloops, I can't get the midi to work. I have a Kurzweil PC88mx but whenever I try to play/record anything, on my programs or demos I downloaded, the computer goes nuts and starts playing a ton of notes. I have to turn off the keyboard to get it to stop (panic doesn't work when this happens). Is this a MIDI, hardware or Keyboard problem? Also, does anyone know if there is a way to record drum patches (since the PC88 doesn't have a channel 10 midi drum patch)? Thanks for the help in advance
Botch. Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 Doron, it sounds like you have the soft "MIDI Thru" turned on on the Kurz. Try unplugging either the MIDI In cord or the MIDI Out cord (depending on if you're trying to record or play back) and see if that doesn't correct the problem. I don't have my PC88 in front of me but the "MIDI Thru" feature should be under the Global button somewhere. Good luck! Rod S Posted July 5, 2002 Posted July 5, 2002 The drum programs are all in the VGM expansion card. If you don't have that, no luck. What are you trying to play? If you're playing a GM sequence, you won't be able to. The pc88 won't know what to do, unless you have the VGM card, and then you can switch to GM mode and use that bank. I'm not sure exactly what the problem is. Check what Botch had as well. schmoron13 Posted July 5, 2002 Author Posted July 5, 2002 thanks guys...first off, I have the VGM expansion, but I was hoping that there was a "general midi channel 10" drum patch I wasn't aware of...Oh well, I prob need to get a module that has that...I'll try unpluggin the midi-through tonight and see if that helps...thanks a lot!!!
Rod S Posted July 6, 2002 Posted July 6, 2002 The GM drum programs are in the expansion voices bank. The manual has the proper bank lsb/msb to select those.
