Wewus432 Posted November 14, 2002 Posted November 14, 2002 Is this off topic? Who knows? Probably time for the psychopaths to chill out and go into serious mode for a day or two. Anyway I've been listening to The Blue Album in my car the last few days and I started thinking...... that would be really fun music to play. It's relatively simple, it's pop/rock or whatever you want to call it, it works for me, and I know I could cover all the guitar parts. Plus, All the songs are good, all the different instruments work together, the vocals are good, and it ROOOOOOOOOOOCKS! So what if you had a Weezer tribute band and you got gigs and showed up and said "we're gonna play The Blue Album". That would be grumongous(this is not a word) fun. Then you could attempt to write some songs in that same vein, which I have a few already, and just keep playing. So what would you call this band? I'm thinking... TWEEZER. Got any better ideas?

Wewus432 Posted November 16, 2002 Author Posted November 16, 2002 Let's analyse the production of Weezer's Blue Album, shall we. What makes it great? The first thing I notice is it's short. This is good. I'd rather have 10 great songs than 20 ok songs. This album has a classic rock cohesiveness to it because of the flow from one song to the next. I hate a CD that goes on for 65 minutes and the last 20 minutes is filler material. Case in point, Pink Floyd's The Division Bell, too long. Another thing I like about The Blue Album is... it's unpretentious, and sincere. It doesn't pretend to be anything but what it is, a great rock/pop album, and because of this it's even better. How about the instrumentation on this album? I lost the CD cover a long time ago and never really looked at the credits. What is that electric rhythm guitar? Sounds like a Strat a lot of the time but then in places the same guitar sounds like a tele to me. I'm sure some gearhead knows the answer to that question. Listen to The Blue Album if you have it and tell me what you think about the production.
not Cereal Posted November 16, 2002 Posted November 16, 2002 who's weezerway? are they the hash pipe band? (they dont wear dresses, do they?)
Philip OKeefe Posted November 16, 2002 Posted November 16, 2002 I'm sitting here hanging with Dryden Mitchell from AAF, and his suggestion for the name for your Weezer tribute band is "River's Coma".
